Original 1980 Talbot Sunbeam Lotus Series 1 with a series 2 update pack fitted at the factory, the car was first registered on 31 oct 1980.
I have a massive file full of MOT's, service records, receipts, parts lists etc. All MOT's are present and accound for the current mileage.
I bought the car in june this year and have driven it less than 100 miles since as I havent been in the country. The previous owner had the car for 6 years. I am the 5th owner, not bad for 31 years.
The car was fully restored and repainted in 2010, including new sills being fitted (there is no rust or rot anywhere on the car), the paint is immaculate. The engine was stripped down as the big end bearings were on their way out, new bearings fitted along with gaskets and seals, original pistons, rods, crank, valves inspected and refitted. New belts and cambelt tensioner and clutch assembly was fitted at the same time. Work was carried out by Seditas Motors in Prestwick who have extensive experience with Sunbeams.
The car has recently had all new brakes pipes and hoses fitted throughout. New solid discs and green stuff pads have been fitted on the front, new brake shoes on the back.Front wheel bearings just replaced (one was out so did both to be sure). I have replaced the original airbox with an ITG foam filter, sounds beutiful, car will come with the original airbox also. The car has just recently been serviced including plugs, leads, dizzy cap, ballast resistor and coil and will come with a full set of service parts for its next minor service (Lotus filters, oil etc)
I have had the interior (including carpet) out of the car to give it a good clean and was impressed by the condition of the car underneath, no rust or even surface rust at all! The interior is in a very good condition for its age, the seats have no tears or wear at all and don't sag. The dash has slight cracking around the drivers side air vent but other than that no wear.
I have been collecting a load of bits and pieces off the owners club, ebay etc as they are quite hard to find and will let them all go with the car this includes
Full set of original glass
Excellent condition carpet (original has a few splits)
Door card pockets
Window winders
Cigarette lighter
New brake & gear gaiters
Door pulls
Original gearknob
Dash board surround
Works strut brace
and probably a few other bits
The car is standard example throughout bar the following items that have been fitted with the last year
13 x 7 minilite alloys (nearly new Hankook tyres) set of 5 + 1 original lotus alloy for spare
rear axle is fitted with an L.S.D
ITG foam filter
There is probably absolutly loads I have missed as this car has so much history and has been looked after brilliantly. I have wanted one of these since I was a kid but as I work abroad I never get time to get home to enjoy the car so I'm trying to cut down the fleet.
