Hi! Since I got my welder, a whole new world of DIY tool fabrication opened up on me. For example, a sliding hammer that cost me - nothing. Consisting of two Mini pot joints (old and worn out), a Mini head stud and a Mini diff output shaft and a piece of scrap construction steel. To add some weight, I left the old drive shaft joint inside. Weights about 4.2kg ;D ![](http://jan-wulf.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/zieh.jpg) Old nut & bent nail for pulling dents with welded on metal strips: ![](http://jan-wulf.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/beul1.jpg) ![](http://jan-wulf.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/beul2.jpg) And a tool to remove the first motion shaft of a Mini gearbox, made of two nuts, a pushrod and a washer: ![](http://jan-wulf.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/zieh1.jpg) Very hand tool! I welded on the output shaft to have a grip and avoid smashing my fingers - like I did with EvoI of my sliding hammer... ;D ![](http://jan-wulf.de/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/fox3.jpg) ^no good design ;D So - this is by far the most purposefull tool I made so far. And I'm sure others have fabricated very handy tools too. Show them ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) (and maybe this thread makes it into "Usefull & FAQ" ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) EvoIII of the sliding hammer will have a spring stabilised uni-joint to add a bit more flexibility... That thread is inspirational. I'm not one for reading big page-count threads, but I'll make damn sure I get through all 69+ pages of that one!

I agree johnny, thats my bedtime reading for the next few weeks! ive just gone through to page 7 and theres some awesome stuff. I think I need a louver press in my life once ive finished the ring roller ive started.
copey, I think it risks getting lost in other mods, , as to be honest theres a lot of rubbish in there. id personally prefer to see it as a sticky in the tech section as i don't see why its not 'on topic'.

yeah, possibly, i figured it moved a bit slower than the main page, but yeah, sticky in the tech section would be cool

this is an awesome idea for a VERY simple homemade tool/mod ![](http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx218/offroaderdodge/tools%20an%20stuff/miscpics010.jpg) and, hotrodders.com made a damned good website with their "best" homemade tools/etc www.homemadetools.net/(after peeking through the jalopy thread, it seems to be the same thread? And the hotrodders website now directs back to the jalopy forum? odd)

Shonky old picture but I own (as many here do) a generic-own-store-brand Dremel knock-off. It has a pendant attachment. I sometimes make fiddley small scale stuff and needed a drill press. So make one ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ![](http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae89/CaptainMatt87/RightSideClose.jpg) Left side: ![](http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae89/CaptainMatt87/LeftSideClose.jpg) In operation: ![](http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae89/CaptainMatt87/InMotion.jpg) And as you can see I made a little drill vice too: ![](http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/ae89/CaptainMatt87/DrillVice.jpg) I have a couple of other things I've made but I've not got pictures of them (I have a chisel at work that I made out of a piece of car spring, forged to shape and tempered) as well as other things I've made for home.

right, we gunna keep this one going then boys? heres a little one I did to start with. ile dripfeed some of the others later on to keep it going ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) when I first got my lathe id not done any turning for a few years, so I needed a little project to ease me back in so to speak. conveniently (or inconveniently) id just bought a die I needed for something on my model A, bit the supplier as listed it for a 1-3/8" die stock(which I had), but when it turned up it was actually for a 1-1/2" one(which I didn't). so, a bit of 2" bar, and 2 lengths of 10mm bar stock, a bit of spinny spinny, a bit of weldy weldy, and a few drilled and tapped holes, and we have- ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v617/dezaster/ace75b45.jpg) perfect fit- ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v617/dezaster/14cf818e.jpg)
