No, it's not a smart car engine or rear suspension.

Front wheels are 5 stud, so I guess the rears are too (Smart=3 stud). Too many runners on the inlet manifold - 4 pairs, by the look of it - the smart is 3-pot. It has a pair of gearchange cables, while the smart has a wierd semi-automatic thing. And the rear suspension doesn't have those strange open-ended tubes under the hubs.

The '11 would have been an AW11 which is 4AGE and 4 stud. My guess of the 3S engine is certainly meant as being combined with the SW20 mid-engined set-up (albeit with a LOT of Dez's fab work replacing a lot of the stock items) combined with a custom chassis.

back end is basically mk2 mr2. but from a j-import turbo model. so yes its a 3S-GTE it uses the entire engine/box/subframe/drivetrain/suspension. but with some apexi N1 2000 spec coilies thrown in for good measure, adjustable for everything. finishing touch is a pair of 16x8 ET0 SSR mesh.

its mazda mx5. narrowed a whopping 5", rare manual rack(all uk cars were PAS), as you can see it needed modding a bit to clear the steering once narrowed. it bolts in, just in case it ever needs replacing( the owner likes to use his cars, properly!) uses bilstein mx5 coilovers off a J spec limited edition (i forget which one) converted to coilover with RD bits. front hubs are one off billet ally that accept the stock mx5 bearings, but wear nissan r32 GTR discs, hidden behind a pair of rays/masche splits, also in 16x8.

the bit in between, well, I made that. perimeter frame (runs along tight inside the sils), set up as low as possible to keep COG low. fits inside the stock inner wings and bulkheads of the shell thats going over it (as much as the new suspension configuration allows anyway) all the holes and slots in the chassis crossmembers are functional, they are to allow wires, cables, pipework etc. to run along hidden between the upper and lower floor skins (as shown by the shifter cables)

as you can see ive got to tear it down to get in to seam weld everything yet, and cap off a few holes here and there, add in a few gussets, and it will eventually have a full cage that ties into that rear framework, but that will wait til after the body is sorted. i fully expect this thing to be given a hard life, hence the design and brick sh1thouse build of it. its going off to have the management sorted next, to run a hoofing great hybrid turbo. hoping for somewhere about 350hp to start with.
