This car made the RR show for me and I have just found some pics of it at the 2005 Nismo festival at Fisco; Taken from the show report I did for Banzai; "The highlight of the show for me, and judging by the huge crowds it pulled on the Sunday, many others, was Alan Thomas’ genuine KPGC10 Hakasuka GTR Skyline. This stunning car was fully rebuilt from the ‘shell up in Japan, by an ex-Nismo engineer, in time for the 2005 Nismo festival. The car was invited by no less than Nismo themselves, who even had a hand in the final paint scheme, requesting the car be painted with the 'Works' style blue sections. “They already had Works-style KPGC10s in red/white and green/white pre-entered,” Alan explained, “and wanted to complete the trio by adding a blue/white car to wear the number 15, symbolising the car that took the GT-R's 50th race win at Fisco on 20th March 1972, piloted by Takahashi Kunimitsu”. " Here it is at RR07 with me sat in it!!! Pics found here; www.geocities.jp/tanetane92/20051204nismo02.html

Racer86, Thanks for the kind words about the car. It was nice to meet you, and I was glad to be able to make your day. Actually, that's me in the first pic you posted - on the right, along with Hiroshi and 'Morikichi', from the 'NP35' pit crew. That pic was from the Saturday set-up and practice day for the 2005 NISMO Festival which was bright and sunny, just like Sunday morning. But around lunchtime on Sunday it started snowing........ Here's a couple of other pics from the day. Hiroshi and Takahashi san ( ex-Prince 'Sport Corner' mechanic and S20 engine guru, and ex-work colleague of Matsui san from 'NP35' ) checking the Japanese Dunlop slicks which were 'loaned' from NISMO for the weekend: My good friend Matsui san - owner of race car engineering company 'NP35', and the rebuilder of this car - on one of the first post-resto shake-down laps of Fuji Speedway during Saturday practice, which was a great day: By the way, it's 'Hak osuka' rather than "Hak asuka".... 'Hako' ( pr. "Hack-o" ) = 'box', and 'suka' = abbreviated 'Skyline' ( pr. roughly as "Skuh", a foreshortened version of the phonetic Katakana ). The closest I can get in written English to the normal Japanese pronunciation is "Hack-oscar"....... if you can imagine that. We always have a good laugh in our house at that American voice-overed Best Motoring video that mangles 'Hakosuka' into something like ( shouting for full effect ) "Hacker-SOOKER!" - which is absolutely miles away from the Japanese pronunciation. You might see the car out at a few more events this year, and I have been sent some 'extras' for the car from Japan which will make it look a little bit more interesting. Cheers, Alan T.

I was stopped in my tracks when when I saw it a RR, lovely, lovely car indeed.
Sure some of the JDM bums would love to see that at some of the big drift events on display or maybe some with track action on the circuits during the lulls in activities. PM if you want some contact details. Were at all the big circuits this year I'm sure it'd be more than welcome.

Alan, aside from the general complements on the splendidness of your car can I also so how much I enjoy your posts...that's a lot of very useful information. Just out of interest, at what stage do you get to add 'san' to a persons name - is there an official rule - could you offend someone by adding it where it isn't earnt or warranted, or indeed by not adding it where it was?

Finger's crossed I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe 'san' to work as Mr does for us. In my case I'd be Sands san, at least, that's how our Japanese and Korean suppliers refer to us when we meet!

I was under the impression that it was a more friendly term - the san being added when you considered someone a friend.

Hey magazine people, this car deserves more coverage. Sort yourselves out. I heard that... Is it even more special because it's over here? I kind of wonder if it would 'blend' in if you spotted it at a meeting back in Japan? But seeing it parked up at Mallory, it smacks you hard between the eyes. Great story Mr S20 too, didn't realised you owned/driven it in Japan... Must have been very special
