Found this set on Flickr and thought some of the Saab aficionados out there may enjoy this set. There's old and new, normal and wacky and some quite rare beasts. This first one is near identicle to the one at a garage near me (which I never seem to get a chance to get a a picture of) This one I LOVE (although if I was being picky, I'd change the wheels) Strange colour combo. Can't my mind up if it works. ? One for the Rat look fans. ;D Garlic Bread is not the future. This Sbarro- esque Saab is. Muscle... You like Murals? And purple?... Rally Sporty Staying out all night? No problem. Now these last couple are really intreaguing me. I've certainly never seen one before, never heard of them before and didn't even know they existed. I'm guessing they're Saab as they're in this selection but no idea what they're called. I'm also guessing they're Uber-rare which means they'll be Uber-expensive to get hold of one. How cool would one of those be tootaling down the high street. I'm sure that someone out of the RR Collective will know something about them (possibly our Swedish contingency) Full set of 285 photo's can be found here

I'm really feeling the Rally 99(?) Those powered caravans are a little questionable? Don't look right stable to me.... I mean, imagine it in a crosswind, although I suppose the weight is all at the bottom

There was a thread on the board a few months ago where someone had rescued one of the powered caravans from a cold forest somewhere in Northern Europe!

There's an interesting story behind those two SAAB motorhomes. It started with a man (Torsten Johannesson, I think, was his name) that was tired of getting stuck with his caravan and thought that he should combine it with the car, so he bought a Saab 92 that donated the mechanics and made a motorhome out of it. That's the blue one. It later got junked and dumped in the forest...
He built a better one on Saab 93 (or maybe 96) mechanics later. That's the red one. It was actually kept in quite good condition and still was when the magazine "Klassiker" (about cars 1945-90) bought it some years ago...
When the magazine bought the red one, some guys rescued the wreck of the blue one from the forest and did a REALLY great job with the restoration (it did not look cute when they picked it up).
Those were the only ones ever made. The original builder was considering to put the motorhomes into production but that was never realized.
(BTW, that red rally saab is a 96, not a 99)

All motorhomes are called that. "Hus" is swedish for "house" and "bil" for "automobile"... So that's not just for the saab-powered goofy-looking examples, even if you are correct. ;D

Beautiful, but I'd change the wheels too. Looks just perfect to me, especially the colour. Wish I had been there........

I'm a recent Saab convert. Great photos. I... think... that works... dunno, it needs something to tie it all together maybe. Or perhaps it's the camera angle... I'd like to see a side-shot. I really want a 99 (with sprinkles)
