from top gear circa 2003 they did a really nice job on it twin cam fiat lump lotus brakes and suspension it was a beast saw it at a show once  |

sale price of car = market value, not what was spent on it. End of the day £5K is strong money for an old Lada.

I was thinking about this the other day and I found this on the internet.From the person that owned it going by what he says, its dated 2006 so i wonder whos got it now www.opensubscriber.com/message/ussr-cars@yahoogroups.com/3006753.htmlI'm sure most of you all know that my 1996 Lada Riva was made over by Lotus cars ltd in 2002, on behalf of BBC Top Gear. It emerged as a complete one off with over £100,000 spent on modifying bodywork, suspension, full race tuned 2 litre twin cam engine and a luxurious bespoke interior. sadly I had to sell it in 2003 mainly due to financial constraints ( my wife had just given birth to our first child) and the car subsequently went to a german Lotus nut. Well, The chap is now selling the car, he's setting up a business overseas and needs to sell this unique, and very fast (237Kmh) Lada! there were a few teething troubles when I sold it on, which he has thrown huge sums of money at and managed to sqeeze a few more BHP out of it to boot! (180+ Bhp) he's spent about 20,000 euro's including the purchase price and is hoping to re-coup as much of this back as possible. I realise that this is well beyond the means of most of you chaps out there, but there must be someone interested in taking this totally unique car on. please spread the word, if anyone is genuinely interested please contact me off group. technically it didnt have 100 grand spent on it, most of that would have been the cost of the labour, how many Lotus blokes working on it for 2 weeks at what? £50 an hour each minimum i would guess?
Engine would have been dearest i guess, anything between 5 and 10 grand (my ex's HT racing built Pinto would have cost 5 grandish had we had to pay for it) then maybe the paint job, 2 or 3 grands worth? wheels and tyres a grand? suspension looked mostly modified stock to me.

if Lotus were charging a consultancy rate for that build then more like £800 a day per man on the job. I always thought the "hundred grand" story was a little odd for what looked like had been done to it. As with most things you hear on Top Gear, I'm sceptical.

Lets face it, it simply isn't possible to spend that much money on it purely on parts it has fitted. Still probably the most specced out Lada to be built certainly over here if not the world.
