Well, I have a pile of bits at the moment, and no idea where it will end up.... the projects Seth and Scary have initiated will be hard to follow. Got my welding corner tidied up and clean today.  Now I have these bits, most expensive part so far is the 20" BMX front wheel I picked up today, Ms Grizz paid 50p for it  Will see what breeds out of his pile in the next few weeks. I really want to create somethingsilly/serious for the RR'09 Gathering.  |

I vote something with a sidecar  Oh, and if the little red rim/wire spoke wheels on that kids bike take the same tyres as the scooter I'd rather like to relieve you of one if it becomes spare! Exactly what I was after.  |

Mount the scooter front fork over the back wheel of the mini BMX and make a scootrailer (or a taxitandem....) lol.. I almost built a unicycle but Conor wanted something he could ride too |

Just a few pics before I go to bed. I have taken the front stem off the little BMX bike, and the scooter, cut both about, lengthened the scooter forks by welding the forks to the scooter centre pipe, as the scooter had a long neck. Then I added a bit more of the offcut on the top of the neck, to gain maybe 4 inches for the handlebars, no idea how comfortable it may be in the end. More on Sunday, as I am running about Kent on Saturday,and painting Nicola's bedroom, and some other tasks.       |

Crazy!
You need to make it chain driven with a foot plate, kind of like how old sewing machines work, if that makes any sense

you can actually buy those lol ^^^ saw one at the local tip the other day what you have there grizz neads a motorbike swingarm and a big superbike rear wheel and tyre lol obviously with some realy violent looking monoshock setup.. haha |

Grizz, I thought amongst all of your work you would've put the stem on the correct way round. It'll give you more room too.

Hi Simon, It is actually just all balanced together, so the stem can be turned around etc, I guess at after midnight, I was not thinking clearly. Will be over to the local tip in the next few days, and also to my secret tip where they encourage recycling. looking for more bits. |

It's the previous owners fault as the stem is reversed in the original photo...curiously the handlebars are the correct way round. I'm surprised how often bikes (or scooters in this case) are built up incorrectly from day one...the amount of bikes with the forks on backwards that I see is nearly as many as the scooters I see with the quick release skewer wound up tight rather than locked with the lever!

Hey if you do use an old superbike back end. You could use a 16" wheel. There the same size as the Schwinn Stingrays back wheel. So could use a tyre off one of them. Be a bit lighter than a motorbike tyre.
16" wheels were common on 1980s sports bikes and custom bikes.

Been busy with work and other stuff, including painting Nicola's bedroom. Today she let me off the leash, and into the garage. Got a rear wheel that makes me happy ;D So £10 later  (well, I am spoilt with finding stuff that I like) I had a knobbly front wheel off a Yamaha B-Wizz scooter. One of the local kids wanted a sparkplug for their pitbike a couple of weeks ago, so I traded them a used plug for a very knackered mountain bike. I will let the pics do the most of the talking.  Dismantling the bike completely took some WD40, spanners, a large hammer and some time.   Started by cutting the rear downtubes and bending them down and forward to create a new swingarm.  Which did break on both sides, so I used some of the old steel from the bus seats to strengthen and gusset it....   About three hours and a couple of cups of tea and a pack of Fox's biccies later.... cut free.  Mocked up. High lift .  Tacked in place..... lower setting   More gusseting and cross bracing to carry my weight etc.   MOCK UP. Now needs final assembly and front brakes added. Then paint the rear wheel, and the frame, and mount the GrizzMobile's old numberplate on the footplate. Maybe try out my pinstriping tool I bought from Matt Jones some time ago. Any suggestions on colour of the scoot and rear wheel will be considdered. I want to make the rear wheel RED, and frame Black or Grey.  |

It it were me, I would maybe try to polish the rear wheel or spray it chrome. Bling bling and all

Prep is the key (as always) but I have seen some good results achieved.
Not used it myself, but it can look pukker! A friend sprayed some ropey parts with the stuff and it worked out pritty well. Prep was poor, but the bits that were smooth took a good finish.

Tried light grey on the wheel, FAIL.
Then did some Red..... Perfect.

Just finished 2nd coat of red on 2nd side. Tried grey, Bleugh. This is the one, with the front wheel keeping its blue colour (for now at least)  |
