Well some of you may have noticed my desperate call for help with the old Datsun and i got some great encouragement and offers of help.... so thanks. Anyway luckily for me there is a rather nice chap by the name of Bias / Ian who is just around the corner and he was up for a challenge! Here is the car again: so last weekend we got the beast over to his place and started to have a proper look at the yellow crayon marks of MOT doom and it was bad where we knew it would be but the rest still looked quite solid. After playing a bit we ended up with this I then forgot to take any more pics but More of the nasty bits to follow ;D

Right then, here's the first instalment for you. Firstly some pictures of the rust, anyone reckon this has all rusted in the 12 months since the last MOT? N/S rear trailing arm mounts O/S rear trailing arm mounts and sill end And from the inside Back panel from the inside That's pretty much all of it at the back end, it needs a fuel tank, brake lines and a trailing arm too but putting some structure back in is the first step. Once all that's done we can move on to the front end and sort the front subframe out. I'd planned to spend all weekend on the Civic but curiosity got the better of me so I started investigating the N/S sill end. Outer layer off Next layer out Next layer out New piece of inner sill in and quick splash over with zinc primer to protect the bare stuff until next weekend (when I might take that piece back off again, I'm undecided at the moment )

Some decent knitting there Ian.
I would say the car is in capable hands now.
Glad you are getting at it.

Hot-diggity, that's a lot of rot. Still, the repairs are looking tip-top, I'll be keeping an eye on this one! Chris

Good work man, you're a much better welder than I am already! Wish I had a Datsun Mine died of rust. And it wasn't even that bad.
