Fair play at trying to bring the old girl back from the brink, you've got a couple of days work there!

Nice The 309 looks a lot less.. lairy than the dimma 205's, takes me back a bit I'm jealous of your wheels.... the dimma/speedline splitrims are probably my favorite wheel ever

It looks like it needs a fair bit of work but I am glad you're going to restore it. I like the 309; they're a very underrated car and attractive too. My mother got a 309SR new in 1988. It replaced a 1983 Mk1 Golf 1.3CL and was a far better car in every way. The Golf felt crude like a tractor in comparison. It is strange how the Golf is so much more popular now.

That is epic, I had a Cheetah 309 years ago, it was a great car and one of the things that prompted me to get my 205. It was such a great car, and the Dimma body looks so mean, so few 309s around now, I'd love another.

Wow, i loved my 309 and was so disappointed with my 205 gti after it. I would love this car!
Miami blue would be great, and you have the right wheels!!!

The only thing that's missing is the engine but I'll probably stick a gti6 lump in it. The important 4x4 gearbox is there as is a tonne of spares from a 309 trio which was broken for parts for it.

That is VERY special! Do you have many details of the conversion? I am assuming that Dimma had to narrow the rear 405 subframe? They really are one of the best proportioned Dimma cars (TBH, I would sell a kidney for any of them...)! Hmmm. Silly thoughts now... Look forward to seeing this progress! Rysz.

I do have a magazine article from back in the day about it, i'll get it scanned in an uploaded Because of the wide arches I don't believe the rear axle was narrowed they look like they'e used the standard 405 4x4 front subframe and just welded some brackets onto the 309 chassis rails for it to attach to i've not been able to have a proper look at the rear set up though as the car is full to the brim with spares

As a yankee curse word, I have almost no idea what I'm looking at. I do, however, know that I love it.

Many thanks for the more pics! Brickbog, Dimma are a company that used to make some awesome wide arch kits for the Euro FF cars that we got here in the UK, the most famous is the 205 Dimma but they all look awesome! Have a google and see what you find Rysz.
