Well the Acclaim was moved on with the initial intent to get an IMP, and Franks BAM looked perfect, alas the Acclaim took longer to sell and missed the boat. I needed something for work and had a look at a couple of contenders but this seemed right price, location and condition and went for it. Its a bit of a change for me (a Triumph man) but I am quite liking the little 'Metro' after the mainly fault free drive back. It certainly handles better than the AX 1.0 I had a while back. I will get some pics up in the morrow, and weekend but its a Red, 3 Door 111i with the Rover 6-Spoke alloys. Just under 40k miles, owned by an old couple up until the previous owner bought it last year, with a whole wedge of receipts (service history every 2k miles from new till 2010) and the original sales receipts as well! No real plans for it atm, its running well apart from an up and down idle, there is nothing that needs doing! ;D The extensive service history (including every MOT as far as I can see ) NEW PICS!

Pics added ;D
As mentioned the only problem at the moment is the idle, constantly at idle it goes down to around 500rpm, about to stall and then up to around 1200rpm, goes down, then up. It does this all the time at idle.
It pulls cleanly, no misfire or sputter and holds at 1000rpm with a little throttle. Its just the idle. Any ideas?
Having had a quick read, some people have had problems with the vacuum advance pipe, likely culprit? Or possibly ECU/Spark Plugs interference (read that as well) The previous owner said its done it form when he bought it last year.

Sorted the one little problem now! Seems it was a mix of the stepper throttle sensor being loose (now fixed) and the idle being quite far off, so now its idle is around 500-700 rpm, a little low but runs fine. just had a quick thrash out and its all good! ;D Oh and off this afternoon to pick up a dolomite sprint alloy wheel to check if they fit!

The sprint alloy- The rear- and the front- The wheels do fit PCD wise, but the centre bore is slightly too big (on the hub) and they don't clear the front brakes, only just though! oh well, could have been interesting!

What about spigot rings to take up the slack in the centrebore, and grind back a bit of material from the caliper? If they "just" touch, you'd not have to take much off. It'd be a shame not to press on with the idea, they look good.

Had another look, the centre bore is fine, it just takes a little persuasion as its a tight fit (no hammers involved) and on the back they sit perfectly! The fronts however don't get close. they sit around 1cm away from the hub as the brakes get in the way (you can see the rub mark on the caliper) And the thin line on the alloy (right one) which meets the top/bottom of the inside bracket on the calipers. They are around 2cm smaller round the inside than the current alloys. Other than that they are spot on!

Right, so how do I lower this fancy hydragas then I don't want it too low, its used daily (speedbumps and potholes) and i want to to stay looking relatively standard.

You can let the fluid out, just vavles similar to a push bike, but there is other ways that involve taking apart the units and ultering a push rod style bar - there is a full guide on the cutting way on MetroPower.

Cheers, will have a look over there. You can get some minilite stye wheels, Compomotive do the ML ones in the right offset, but again, around £100/ea!

You can lower them by letting the gas out, but it can have adverse effects on the handling (or it did on an old Metro Turbo we had and from what articles of the time said (yes, my dad might have felt a little traveller...). Ideally, you need a machine for it. I think there are a few contacts in the Teal Pages of this forum offering their services.

Cheers Chas, not looking to get it done atm, but as it seems cheap, will probably do it in the near future.

Not much of an update, i need to have a look at the fan this weekend as i have not seen it working yet and its got a little warm a few times, on the plus, its only £35 to fill up, and in the past 3 fuel trips I've done 43mpg, 43mpg and 47mpg. The last one went up as i had a long motorway trip instead of the usual commuting. TBH, i think it will stay pretty stock for the foreseeable future.

air leak is likely a hose from or to the airbox
took the airbox off the fiesta to clean out the throttle body and the garage man said without looking - youv got a leak
cos it had the hunting up and down idle too
2 inch pipe changed - sorted

If i keep the 100, I will be needing some new rubber soon, and got me thinking along the usual lines of possibly a wheel change as well. Trouble is that there are not many 13" 4x3.75 wheels in FWD offset that are cheap. Any ideas? The Sprint alloys will not fit BTW.

I am tempted to say look out for Imp or Mini wheels. Hmmm, 4 spoke Revolutions or Slots, you know what to do
