Hello hello. As this will be my first post, my name is Kyle and I like cars, but I don't get much time to work on cars.
So, this is my third car, and I'm not even 19 yet.... Jeez. I first owned a MK3 Golf, that was lowered on some white 15" wheels. This, due to a mix of my inexperience as a driver, and lack of consideration of another driver, caused it to be written off. Golf 0 - Tree 10 million.
I then owned a MK4/5 Fiesta, which I brought out of desperate want for another car. Unfortunately, I hated it. So after owning it for a while, I sold it and brought, as the title suggests, a Polo. Woooo, sounds of cheering.
Two general pictures of the car.
So, the idea with this is simple. Lowered, nice wheels, clean, nice interior. All on a yearly budget.
The first port of call was the smell. The previous owner wasn't the cleanest, with chewing gum in the door car, and a general strong scent of Indian takeaway. Armed with a ton of baby wipes, kitchen roll and my mums febreeze, a heavy day of cleaning was under way. This is obviously something that pictures weren't needed, but the things that were found was truly disgusting. Nail clippings being on the list. WHO DOES THAT?!
The next thing was a simple DIY mod that I wanted to try. I don't listen to the radio much, I create a lot of mixes with friends so I try listen to them as much as possible. So, with that in mind, I took these items,
and made this,
all with the cost of, diddley squat. Better than paying £7 for a after market one.
The next was something I was going to do on the Fiesta but I thought I'd carry on to this. I hate all grey interiors. It seems to just be a thing. So the plan is to have it all painted black, with some Halfords enamel paints (primer and matt black) I gave it a try on a broken piece of interior.
So after a couple of layers of primer, and no spray painting experience, it looked like this,
Then I hit it with the black, in direct hot sunlight. Something I was told shouldn't be done till AFTER, I'd done it. Luckily, it was in a place that would never really be seen, and with a couple of coats in the cool shade, it came out looking like this,
and in the car,
Not to bad I don't think?
I also brought some wheels in between this from my neighbour. The 4 tyres are decent, although 2 have slow punctures. But they will be getting refurbished and and lower profile tyres. Picture of them on the car,
They'll eventually be white faced with black barrels and the teardrops will also be black. A bit ragged, but for £75, not complaining.
Before any major outside transformations happen, I need to sort out these bits.
The rear bumper needs replacing, as it is rusted as hell.
Also, random picture.
Rolling without a centre console is so much cleaner, but I need the storage. Bummer.
1998 counts as Retro-ish, right?
