Alright ladies and gents? Welcome to my humble thread, I'm relatively new here, although I have previously posted a small thread on the general board, I am yet to "cut my teeth" in the retro rides community haha. Enough blabbering. As you may have guessed, I have a lovely little escort van and she goes by the name of Emma:D she's my pride and joy and i loooved owning her, here's a few pics to wet all your whistles... Sorry to everyone for the frankly CACK quality of the pictures, i only had my iPod at my desposal and believe it or not, I had THE SUN in my face everywhere I stood, it just glared at me! Progress will be mega slow due to money being tighter than a ducks ar$e at the mo but, as soon as any progress is to be had, you guys will be posted ASAP All comments welcomed. Cheers guys!

kieren has a good point, however, maybe a 2.0 zetec out of a mondeo would be a cheaper option :-)

I now have a few engine options thanks to you guys, I'm mainly thinking styling ideas, I'd love to lower the back but I know that lowering blocks are out of the question, I'm really stumped on how to do it, HELP?

All the CVH series engine would bolt straight in with the right mount's so id deffo go down that route eventually, Do these run Leaf springs on the rear springs/struts on the front then ? If so i know id be putting For escort/sierra back axle on that beast.
RWD ACTION BITCHES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will be good to watch progress on this project and see what come's of it GOOD LUCK.

Hi! Ah! A VAN-Man! ;D Very nice cars!!!! And,in my opinion, there must be not a big engine.....its all about the looks and the style of this kind of van.....in times of silly fuel prices i prefer the 1,8 diesel! And i flipped the rear axle......no problem Cheers

Handsome. I love mk4 escorts. I would leave the engine as it is if it's the diesel lump. I've owned rs turbo's and don't get me wrong rs turbo vans are great but the conversion is not worth the agg. The vans don't like being driven over a ton, the back end is way to light.
Keep it basic and simple. Don't let it burn a hole in your pocket. You could even do a few collections and deliveries in it for people. let it earn you a couple of quid.
Lower it and go for peugeot 205 gti 1.9 alloys in black or if your budget will stretch go for escort cosworth alloys the best alloy choice for the mk4 van. ( not the mondeo si version )

Haha I think you're right about the suspension set up, I haven't had the van much more than a week so I'm not completely gend up on its spec yet haha. To be honest, a cvh or RS turbo conversion would be pretty good because, my dads an old skooool mechanic and he has built many an engine! Haha
