had a message from a mate kev the other day asking if i knew anybody who wanted his mk2 consul project as he wasn't going to get round to doing it due to work/life getting in the way the car is basically a shell but has most of the chrome bits lights and glass so a perfect base to do what ever with . i wasn't looking for another project as i have plenty to be getting on with with the FB victor project and racing the pro street escort but this particular mk2 consul has a fair bit of history and is a pretty well known car and i just happen to have an empty garage at home with the victor being at the workshop add to that i know the car very well as i painted it back in about 1999 so i told kev id have it and we'd come and collect it . getting it on the trailer was a mission in itself as the jig it was sat on wasn't really wide enough to fit on the bed of the trailer the shell itself is very good came with all the panels and new kevlar bootlid and had had a new pair of sills fitted so not to much work needed body wise it was also built on capri running gear so finding the parts for it shouldn't be to much of a mission we got back home some how without it falling off the trailer and its now in its new home till the Victor is done . the plan is get it back up and going similar to how it did look with more of a 60's american super stock kind of look to it but with a more modern power plant to make it more usable there will also be an element of handling in it sort of super stock meets road racer will be living here for a while now .

had the feelers out to try and find a pic of the consul from when it was more complete and a good friend of mine had been to take a look at it about 7/8 years ago with a friend of his who was thinking of buying it this would have been around 4 or 5 years after i had painted it but here is what it used to look like when it was a bit more complete

Sweet! I just picked up my '58 highline today! over the moon (build thread to follow). How easy is a Mk3 capri running gear conversion? I know there's a bit of choping on the front turrets - but how easy is the rest of the conversion? Any help greatly obliged
