Well this is my first post on this website, so i better give you some brief info.
The car was bought for £99 off of fleabay, and has had basically 2 years of modification and restoration to get it in the state it is now. It is a Lancia Beta hpe 2.0 fuel injected from 1982, and what a car! I truly love driving the car on the road and track. It is mainly a track car as i have a Lancia Delta 1300 LX as my road car, but i do take the car out at weekends and to shows when possible.
It has the famous twin cam engine used in also the fiats of the same era, with bosch fuel injection. The engine is standard with 122bhp, may sound like not a lot but with 175nm of torque at 2800rpm, i've suprised many a newer car.
My main aim at the moment is purely on handling and the braking front, once this is complete and its handling like its on rails then i will look into funding an engine with grunt, but there is still a lot of development needed with the suspension until i'll be happy.
Modifications that i can remember:
Bucket Seats
Harnesses
Front and rear bumpers removed
Momo steering wheel
Interior stripped
Rear strut Brace
Secondary coolant fan (Manual switched)
Goodridge stainless steel brake lines
5.1 Brake fluid
Polyurethane Bushes
Spax adjustable damper inserts
Uprated/Lowering springs
There maybe more......
This is the car many a year ago in the wiltshire college building at castle combe, wiltshire back in 2007 being worked on.
From this i got it back on the road with a few modifications, and got it on Goodwood track 2008.
Got the bodywork seen to by a local company
Got it a bit sideways at Camp corner on a Track day in november 2008 at castle combe.
Classics Monthly magazine then got in contact with me and wanted to do a 5 page spread, as i had originally bought the car from the main editor.
In march 2009 i then got on Goodwood again for a full day this time, although i only went out 5 times during the day.
Since then i have been doing a few modifications for the rest of the year.
Some new copper brake lines for the whole car was made by myself as well as the goodridge brake lines, with dot 5.1 brake fluid, as well as a bit of red paint.
I got myself some dunlop track tyres which improves handling and grip a million times compared to my plastic road tyres i've got on it at the moment.
And finally for now, have recently fitted some adjustable spax in the front, which has made it REALLY stiff now, and i'll be looking forward to using these in anger.
The latest track action was on the classic, retro and sportscar day at castle combe.
I'd love to know what you glorious people think of it ;D Fire away with questions too....... i'll try to answer as best as i can.
