Pretty looking car  I'm not clued up on these at all, so heres a (possibly stupid) question for you; Are these cars by any chance sister models to the hillman imp? |

another little update, after the arch was sorted i moved on and got the rest of the wing sorted. Ok maybe not a pro job for a first attempt and on a budget, well no budget tbh, i think it's looking alryt now  You can see here the small imperfections  Managed to sort the imperfects with kniffing putty and after a good few rub down's it's ok.  Just got to wait now for the weather to clear up, haven't got anywhere to spray indoors and it's just too cold and wet at the moment to give it the top coat. it's all protected by the primer so it's back on the road and will be looking gd again soon (hopefully!) |

Just got to wait now for the weather to clear up, haven't got anywhere to spray indoors and it's just too cold and wet at the moment to give it the top coat. it's all protected by the primer so it's back on the road and will be looking gd again soon (hopefully!) Don't forget that primer is porous.. I thought I'd get away with it for a while but it has been verified by the rusty primered back end of my Volvo unfortunately. Whack a rattlecan top coat on it if you can |

Well, i think it is time for an update, didn't realise how long it had been! Well the front wing is now all sprayed up and it's still looking ok so not a bad job at least  Had a big attack on the engine side of things early summer, ready for imp national down in somerset and then heading down to cornwall. Got hold of a nice sport engine 30thou overbore, tidied all that up  Had the head rebuilt reground etc and all shimmed up to the 1RY cam, regrind of a sport, looked great! While i had the engine out i replaced the fuel line as i knew it had a very small leak, car always smelt of fuel! so replaced with nylon fuel line, worked a treat!   I cleaned up all the paint work, rubbed down where needed, traeted with zinc and then a new top coat of classis black (top stuff!) Changed some of the wiring as was going for dyno to alternator and needed to sort a few things out, found out that the previous owner, or somebody down the line wasn't too great so ended up at this......   so all ok so i think so strap the engine to my recon'd gearbox, and stainless exhaust system (  ) slide it in and off we go...... or so i think! There seemed to be a small bit of smoke behind me as i was pulling away, i thought it maybe burning off something and will be fine, however as the miles went on, 200 later it was pouring out the back as i pulled away. spoke to the gent who sold me the 'rebuilt' engine and comes about that he had the pistons out etc but didn't replace the rings with new ones, just put them back in, resulting in the rings not matching the piston bores! so a week before my trip to the imp national it all comes out again for my old engine to go back in, and that is how it has been left, with the engine needing new rings until a point i can work on it! had a great time down in newquay and imp national, even gave the imp some abuse round an autotest, did well and loved it, car managed 1200miles in 8 days and not a single break down, not a bad old engine after all!  |

Time for an update. car is running and not running too badly. i've had endless problems with rotar arms points and condenser's in the past so i bit the bullet and bought an electronic ignition for it, well worth it! haven't had a single problem with it since and it also starts and run's alot smoother! The car is currently on twin stromberg carbs, runnign rich so i'm hoping to get it on a rolling road at some point to sort that. I may move to a weber when i put the 930 in, undecided? As some of you may have seen, put the rear wheels up for sale as i'm replacing them, they should be delivered in the next few days. So hopefully this winter should be the last time it's out and being used in the bad weather so time to start messing with the bodywork! Got to have it looking good for 9th July, a friends wedding and it will be taking him to the wedding! Long thread so i'll leave you with a pic!  |

Thought i would do some work on the car over the weekend, however the weather kinda a put a stop to that on saturday! so just organised the imp spares in my garage, rubbed down and sprayed a few things that have needed doing. For the last few weeks of driving it, i thought that th heater wasn't doing as much as it should be, so i looked at into that., was the quickest thing of all, was a jubilee that needed tightening, and there we go now have a non leaking water system and a hot heater Also i have had some new rear wheels fitted to the back, same style just in better condition, ie new! I'll get a pic up of them fitted on the car when i've managed to clean the car!  |

Need some help here guys, i can't decide if i should go for a set of clear indicator lenses for the front of the car. On one hand i say yes so the front end will all be white but then again i think that it will loose some of the detailing on the front, i can't decide, help!

If you can get some reasonably cheaply, then give it a go, they can easily be taken off again if you don't like them. Someone else is sure to buy them back off you.

Managed to get myself a weber and manifold finally. the manifold i have got for it has been chemically cleaned but the weber hasn't, i've bought a rebuild kit for it so thinking of stripping it fully and having it bead blasted or similar, anybody know if a place around derby or just a place that is recommended that i could send it to? you can see what the difference is here!  |

Hey guys. been farrrr too long since i have updated this thread, oftem online but more watching what everyone else is doing rather than keeping you up to date on my project. seeing the 'what i love about RR' thread made me decide i needed to update, so here we go, (you may need a cuppa) I've got myself a unit, which is nice!  the otherside of that wall is mine, shame i took a picture of the wrong side hey! Here's the car in the unit. can't see it but plenty of space to work around the car on all sides and a nice storage workbench area.  Started work on stripping the sills down to see what would be left.  not much! so am now just in the process of getting some new panels. in teh mean time i stripped the interior  Inspected the fron panel as always had my suspisions on what was going on, passanger side always never looked at same angle as drivers side.  dug a fair bit of filler out here and it doesn't look the best underneath, will be fabricating a small panel to go in here to get it solid and back to metal. In teh process of this i found that the front passanger side has had a front wing on at some point, fitted badly so i took it off as the inner arch was full of filler, easier to get the outer wing off and then got access to the inner   the wing is fine and can be welded back on once inner is sorted. I've tried to keep it brief for now, but will keep you up to date now. just had the new inner arch delivered so that can go on later this week while i wait for the sills. |
