Here's my latest aquisition. Bought as it is from Craig (sootyridesagain iirc) on here. Its a bit of a slag. Started of as a GSi 24v auto, which was reshelled into a 2 litre shell and converted to manual, then back to auto, then Craig bought it and went back to manual, then blew 2 24v's up so fitted the 12v Gold Top engine out of a Senator. I bought it with a completely stripped interior bar 2 buckets. So far not done a great deal to it. I changed the brake fluid as Craig boiled it and the pedal went soft, now you can properly stand it on its nose. Also I bodged half a rear seat in and seatbelt so I can get the car seat in. Maisie loves it, sits the clapping and waves at the other cars as I overtake them lol. Not sure what the plans are yet. I bought it to use the running gear in my estate and this may still happen as i've got a daughter and a dog to get in and the saloon doesn't fit them both. For now i'm happy just driving round sideways everywhere. Spins the tyres through 3rd on a damp road, which is errr well above legal speeds. Spec so far 2 litre shell 3 litre 12v Gold Top straight 6 5 speed manual gearbox LSD rear diff GSi brakes with red stuff pads Bilstein Shocks with Eibach springs Scorpion stainless exhaust with de-cat pipes and restrictors removed Home made short shift Stripped interior Oh and the reason for the name. I went into a petrol station up the road and the woman behind the counter went "What the dash have you bought now, it looks like a right scum bag" and it sorta stuck. Matt

It's a good engine! What ColonelK is still running in his car! Good work.

Yeah it is a shame to break it, it's just the room issue thats the major problem, though the lack of central locking is also a tad annoying when trying to get Maisie in. It is really nice to drive, handles really well to say its so comfortable, though i'm still not used to the extra body roll and sidewall flex compared to the estate, which is bumpy but is like a go cart round corners lol. Have you got a quickshift on yours Mark? There's a homemade one on this its awesome at speed really prescise. Anyway a pic of the back. Damage is due to Craig doing a drift day at a banger track and putting it backwards into the control wires. Engine bay Digi dash Matt

Craig kindly let me have a go at the last Marham track day in April, the car's immense. Beats the hell out of my E30 anyday!

I've just found this thread, can't believe this was all 5 years ago now (I am sootyridesagain under a new username). This Carlton is still the only car out of the many I've owned that I would have back tomorrow without any hesitation, if it still existed (which I know it doesn't). Was rare in that it was a completely rot free shell, if only I'd listened to those that new better and removed the ABS fuse before I'd gone drifting!
