Hello, been lurking on the forum for months admiring everything and trawling through many, many of the thread in admiration. Decided to finally contribute abit.
I'll fill you in on the story up to now
This project started in summer 09, and has been going on and off since then because other things tend to get in the way, arrived in the yard as an insurance write off, heater box had caught fire and melted the dash etc, this was a limited edition mx5 "S special" or something of the like, anyway, the hamster as I like to call him was taken to the dashboard and the rest stripped out,
boot floor cut out and other useless weight,
had subframes and wishbones sandblasted and painted,
found some weller 8 spokes in the local scappys, sandblasted and painted also,
some bucket seats we already had were retrimmed, new bar to mount the steering column on, chassis stiffening kit added, rust dealt with, fibreglass moulds of the wings made,
wide arch kit (someone with a keen eye will figure out what it was originally intended for.
The big loud thingy under the bonnet is a 1800 vvt engine from a mk2 with ported and polished head.
and.....bike carbs, yet to figure out if they will work, plan is to run it on megajolt,
Roll hoop made up and welded down within an inch of its life,
Slots were cut in the arches after they were grafted on,
The arches were sheet glassed underneath btw.
Interior was cleaned down, which took ages and then a spray gun waved over it and the roll hoop. looks alot better in real life
Before;
After;
It will be done again as it bloomed in places and also due to any continuing modifications.
As of last week more tube steel going across the doorframe was made up going through the bulkhead to the top of the front struts to provide some extra rigidity,
A splitter was made up due to damage on the black nosecone which was swapped for the standard white one on it in earlier pics.
Black will not be the final colour I will add but a quick spray can was waved over to give and idea of how the arches will look, having it all one colour made it easier to see if the mods will suit it.
Hope you guys like it, something a little out of the ordinary I think, hope you like the pics below, theres some random ones thrown in along the way haha, apologies for any rubbish quality ones as they may have...ahem been taken with a..phone
Comments/advice/whatever are welcome ;D
