Ok here goes, I have decided to sell my 1966/7 Ford Falcon Deluxe Club wagon (Ford econoline) as I want a car again. It has 12 months Tax and MOT
I bought this a few years ago and have done a trip to cornwall and driven it all over the place its always been very reliable although I have spent quite a lot of money undoing the bodging from previous owners! It flew through its MOT with only a wheel bearing and a wiper blade stopping it pass first time!
It was originally owned by the british embassy in washington DC and then imported to the UK in 1972 and stored in a barn for many years. In 2001 it was painted as it is now and lots of cash was spent on it! I have the original order forms from the 60's along with the diplomatic paperwork and tonnes of information about this actual van!
Its a 270cu engine (3.9ltr) straight six and it still does 25mpg which is better than my 1600 baywindow vw ever did, It has good heating and it accelerates well it will cruise happily on the motorway! The engine runs perfectly everytime and it brakes well too! its got a full stainless exhaust system and it sounds sweet as!
Parts are real easy to come by as fordmoco used mostly the same parts for their trucks throughout the 50's-70's and most things I have ever needed have been on the shelf at my local american car specialist (USAutomotive) plus there is a wealth of items available from the states very cheaply
Mechanically its sound, it has new drums/bearings all round new rear cylinders (and I think front too) and its solid underneath. It is tatty around the edges and obviously it has some rust but its a 45+ year old vehicle so thats hardly surprising!
The front interior is 100% original and in good condition, the door cards have been recovered throughout in blue vinyl with a cream vinyl headlining, it is wired for use with a leisure battery with a split charging relay and has a separate fuse box for all the additions including the LED downlighters, stereo/sub and reversing camera.
In the back is a bench style sofa with newish foam (which does need covering) which pulls out into a comfy double bed, it has fitted blinds, tinted Popout windows a cocktail cabinet, wine rack and fridge all finished in brushed aluminium.
Last year there was a small electrical fire in the engine bay but it was nothing serious, all the wiring and ancillaries have been replaced to spec. this was caused by some poor wiring from the previous owner and a leaky fuel filter.
All in all its a great little van, its a massive head turner wherever we go and i'm sure it will be a great purchase for someone looking for something a little different! I had planned on respraying it myself in a turquoise colour but i'm finding more and more i'd rather get another car of some sort rather than a van
I'm looking for £4500 but would consider PX or swap depending on the vehicle!
The pictures aren't brilliant but it'll give you an idea of the truck!
