Hi, I am posting this ad on behalf of my computer illiterate father, unfortunately his work situation dictates that he could do without paying to run a 4.0 V8 and thus needs something a bit more economical. Anyway, moving on, this car has covered 180,685 miles, but I can say with confidence that it starts first time, every time, and runs as smooth as silk, the gearchange is flawless and the car still retains the famous 'Lexus waft'. The suspension is still as comfortable as new and the car handles and drives fine. The interior is a nice place to be as all LS400 interiors are. However as you can probably see in the photos, the front seats and armrest are quite worn, as to be expected from a car of this age/mileage, the seats still feel fine to sit in and are as supportive and comfy as new. Speaking of which, the seats are also electrically adjustable and are heated both front and rear, there are also memory settings for the drivers seat. In contrast to the front, the rear seats are like brand new. Externally the car is in generally good nick, but it does bear some scars, which is to be expected on a car of this mileage. I have taken photos of said 'scars', they are nothing more than cosmetic, but if you're after a concours condition car, then this isn't the car for you. Scratches around the driver side door handle Peculiar crack (?) on the right corner of the rear bumper Cracked passenger side mirror casing, this is just the casing and the glass itself is fine. Damage on the passenger side front bumper/wing This car comes complete with a comprehensive service history, spare key and fob, owner's manual and list of Lexus dealerships in Europe. The car was serviced every 9,000 miles at a Mitsubishi main dealer. So, in summary; Pros: - Mechanically sound - Quick enough to get you out of trouble (Or in it, for that matter) - Waft-o-matic, this car is one of the smoothest rides I've ever been in - Lots of kit for not a lot of money Cons: - Some minor cosmetic damage, nothing major but if you're a perfectionist it may annoy you - Not cheap to run The car has tax until the end of December, and MOT until July 2012. So there you have it, loads of luxury for not a lot of money. If you wish to get in contact please text me on 07736932797, do not call as I may be in college etc. And I will pass you onto my father, we are located in the Sutton Coldfield area and if you wish to view the car please give us a few days notice. More pics and/or videos on request. Cheers

Probably the most important/expensive bit of maintenance is the cambelt on these, which is impendingly due. Do know if it's been done recently?

the stereos on these things are brilliant...great motorway barges not so much fun on a b road...what's the power steering pump like? is there any drippage - testament to the indestructability of these things is that failed alternators due to PS seal leak is one of the only mechanical issues they can have
great for somone looking for a luxobarge, I have had several and they are uber reliable and comfy. GLWTS

Hi guys, looking through the service history now. The cambelt was replaced in 2004 at 137,723 miles. During the same service new front and rear brake pads. The car was once again serviced in 2005 at the exact same mileage and it had the alternator repaired/refurbished.
At 155,227 it had a new alternator belt, and the rear brake discs and pads were replaced.

FWIW, I've recently bought one of these - same age, similar mileage and it's *awesome* - 20mpg on short journeys and 26mpg fully loaded (5 people, air-con on from time to time, full boot and 3 kids bikes on a rack on the back!) on a recent journey to France.... Didn't burn a drop of 5w30 or use any coolant either.
Good luck with the sale, these really are great cars!

Yep, this car is certainly something special, it's just a shame my dad's work situation is so curse word, forcing him into a something more economical, still, one of them things isn't it?

Cambelt won't need doing til around 230k then, as it's widely agreed that the interval is fine at 90k, and that Lexus were being a bit over zealous with the original 63k interval quoted in the service manual.

There you have it folks, direct from another LS400 owner, cambelt on this should be good for another 50,000 miles or so.
Also just adding that I've been speaking to my dad and he'll consider a swap for a 1.8-2.0, manual, small estate of similar value (Think Focus, Peugeot 306 size) as long as it's in good nick and has a decent amount of tax and MOT

Bump to add our home number - 01212430891. don't miss out on this one chaps, excellent car, lots of kit for not a lot of money at all. It's a shame that we have to sell at all, as we'd definitely be keeping this for ourselves if we could.

worth pointing out that this is the Mk3 LS400.
This has the slightly more powerful version of the 4.0V8 rated at 260 BHP and is slightly better aerodynamics and much lighter weight than the earlier Mk1/Mk2 versions.
I think this version is still non-interference so if the cambelt did go its not necessarily goodnight Vienna.
Black is a great colour for it too.
LPG it and keep it?
