I`m not sure whether this is the type of vehicle that interests anyone on here, but I thought I stick it up anyway.
MOT - 12 months
Mileage - 48200 and something

I`ve just obtained a 1978 Allegro Vanden Plas 1500 auto from being dry stored in a barn. I put a battery on it, turned it over and it fired up straight away. I took it for an MOT, and it passed straight away, with one advisory of a slight blow from the centre section of the exhaust. I`ll be getting this sorted in the next day or two. The tester(s) commented on how solid and totally rust free it was all over.
The pictures do most of the talking for this car, and as you can see she`s in great shape all over. No rust, no dents, no scratches. It has a few touched in areas which I have tried to show on the pictures, but won`t show up, Also, the headlight surrounds have been hand brushed, but you can only see this when up close. This car has just 4 previous owners on the V5, but are all from the same family. It`s been a show car in the past, as some photographs I have with the old MOT`s etc will show.
The interior is great. Full leather, in lovely condition. The wood trim is good too, and not cracked. the rear picnic tables fully working too.
It starts first time, and settles to a lovely steady idle. The drive is great. Very smooth, and you can see why these were the cars to have back in the day. However, if you want a car with a quick 0-60 time (if at all) this is certainly NOT the car for you!
I have a handful of old MOT`s which show it has covered just 2000 miles since 1989. I also have old brochures, handbooks and a book by Austin all about the Allegro.
Negatives are limited; just the odd touch up like already mentioned, and I don't think the dash voltmeter works. Apart from this, the only negative IMO is how dreadfully slow this is! This is countered well though by the comfort of the ride, and the many smiling faces you see looking in your direction when driving it about.
My tea is ready now, so I need to wrap this up! If anyone has any questions or would like to view and drive this please let me know.
Finally, i`ve never managed to get pictures loaded on here, so there`s a big chance my attempt at this won`t work! Bare with me on this though, as I`ll find a way to get the pictures up.
