VOLKSWAGON SCIROCCO GT 1987 75K MILES LOG BOOK NOT PRESENT BUT WILL COVER COST AND HAVE V62 READY. MOT SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2012 will confirm later has covered around 20 miles since last one I picked this up in the summer from an old guy I met at work I'm still waiting on the log book that he insists he has but cannot locate, have got to the point where I have picked up a v62 and got the cheque book ready to apply for a new one but now need to sell. this was looking really sorry for itself when I picked it up but has come up pretty well considering its age. I've had a play with the front end but nothing is permanent and I have kept all the bits I took off. I've only driven it a couple of times due to not having any tax it drove very well on both trips and pulled remarkably well for and old girl the auto box is in good order as are the brakes steering etc. bad points the car has tatty steel wheels, a few scabs here and there but nothing major. theres a fair size dent in the drivers door and the interior mings of dog. also when idling its cut out a few times due to a fuel blockage I've not got round to looking into this but a drain and flush should suffice was layed up for some time so id imagine its just curse word in the fuel. at this price it should be a profitable project to some one to finish or just a good daily to bum around as it is. be sad to see it go, but I have a beetle to finish and bills to pay so I have to sell a few of the fleet. may be open to a deal on pairs or all three if the price is right. I will be adding an escort cabby and a mk3 golf gti shortly. thanks for looking.

it needs a fuel flush as I've said as its blocked the fuel filter a couple of time at idle. but on the short drives I've had its been faultless. the battery is weak due to being laid up for a while but it starts straight away with a booster pack every time even after sitting for 4-5 weeks its showing low mileage so should be ok once its actually being used again. it was only laid up cause the old boy i got it from was given a newer car it never actually broke and went straight through its mot. I would advise trailer or truck to get it home and give it a flush and service but other than that can't see any problems. just wants a good clean out and some fresh wheels. i have got a friend with a transporter so could get it delivered cheap if it made things easier.

Luckily me and my brother enjoy tinkering on cars so doing things like fuel flushing are a breeze, this all lays on if my friend likes the car and how insurance would cost for a 22yr old new driver, ill have a chat with him this eve and give you a ring either tonight or tomorrow morning, can you PM me your number if thats alright with you?

Hi antni, about your fuel problems it would be a good idea if you had a look at the throttle body on the inlet manifold, iv got a mk3 golf estate with a 2L 8v gti engine, and suffered the same problem, it would not tick over and stalled at every junction, its a common thing on these cars, its not fuel starvation its lack of air, inside the throttle body there is a metal gorse filter with gets gunked up with curse word, which starves the engine of air, its three minute job, just take off the rubber boot between manifold and the air box manifold end, and pull off the boot, you will need a proper tool or a big pair of pliers to squeeze the large clip off to one side then pull off the boot, look inside and if its gunked up wipe out with paper towel or cloth as much as you can, then spray some brake cleaner inside the boot and the manifold to disperse the rest of the gunk don't worry it will not do any damage to the engine, give it a good spray and wipe out in the boot and maniflod, then just rinse/spray with brake cleaner, which will evaporate, spray some on a cloth and wipe inside the boot to stop it running down on to the air filter, also check the air filter this could dirty or blocked which will not help with air flow, when you start the car put your foot down on the throttle turn it over because it might not start straightaway, when it does start give it a couple of hard revs to clear the engine and it should then tick over ok, do this when the engine is warm so you don't rev the nuts off a cold engine, hope this helps all the best. michael61

The garage said it was blocking at the filter. When it's happened to me I've shaken the filter and it's fired up afterwards. It's not all the Time either just every now and then.
Cheers though

Hi antni, don't understand what they mean, if they have cleared the blockage then it shouldent be happening again, well i think its worth a look at the throttle body, at least then you have ruled that out, it will only take a few minutes to have a look, o well good luck with every thing. michael61

i think they meant there is crud coming through in the fuel where it was sat that clogs the small filter at the front. although i can't see any thing myself.
any offers? first to turn up with over £400 can have this need the van before it gets sold!!!
