OK, I'm putting this up here quickly while I'm in "clear-out" mode as otherwise I'll remember how much I enjoy driving it and I'll end up keeping it...
It's a B-reg Scimitar SE6B, powered by a 2.8-litre carburettor Cologne V6 coupled to a 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. I bought it in the summer from its original owner, an elderly gent who was selling as he found his late wife's Polo easier to drive, and who had personally racked up every one of the over 220,000 miles on the clock.
I drove it home from Oxfordshire to Norfolk with no problems at all, and it's been reliable ever since. The engine sounds healthy and holds good oil pressure, and the exhaust note is gorgeous. The gearbox jumps out of second gear, but there is more than enough torque to bridge the gap between first and third so it's not much of an issue. Overdrive works fine on third and fourth. There's no sign of any of the overheating that these are sometimes prone to (although I think the earlier Essex-powered cars were the worst culprits for this). Brakes are good and the power steering works as it should.
Most of the electrics are fine - the rear washer doesn't work, although the wiper is fine, and the fuel gauge is inoperative, but the fuel light works so you know when you're running low (this also means that it's probably a fault with the wiring in the dash rather than the sender in the tank). Other than that, all lights, wipers, horn, heater fan, radio, electric aerial etc. seem fine.
The bodywork is probably best described as "fair" - there are some areas of crazing and micro-blistering typical of old metallic paint, and there are a few scratches in keeping with the car's age and mileage. Also one of the rear arches is scuffed - I think the old gent must have caught the wall while turning into his driveway, which was quite tight. It's still quite presentable though.
It passed its MoT in November with just an advisory on the rear shocks, which could really do with replacing in the near future as they are quite bouncy over speed bumps and the like. The chassis on these later cars is galvanised and obviously the bodywork is all fibreglass so rust is not really an issue.
I don't have much in the way of history as the old gent had misplaced it - I have the original service book, but this only goes up to 1988, and I have the last four MoT certificates, but that's about it. I do also have a hardback book on the Scimitar which came with the car, which has quite a bit of useful info.
Here's some pics:
These are the only ones I have at the moment - will take some more when I see the car in daylight (probably Saturday).
The car is in north Norfolk, about 15 miles NE of Norwich, and I want £750 for it.
