Some of you will know this car, some of you will have seen it and some of you will have been partly involved in the build. A few of you have even been in it or driven it.
I am sure there are a LOT of people out there that can vouch for the quality of this car, the condition of it and the amount of work that has gone in beyond the paint & wheels.
I am confident in saying that it is one of the best built MX5's in the UK. There are plenty of people who have told me this both here and on one of the UK's leading MX5 sites. I won't go into all the miniscule details, but please check my build thread (link to build thread)
The car has also been featured on the amazing website www.build-threads.com/ which I only found out about through other people telling me. It's also popped up on various blogs and internet pages like Mayday Garage, 7Tune, Tumblr, Fast Car to name but a few. Here is the link to the feature on Build Threads: www.build-threads.com/build-threads/teenage-dirtbag-na-mx5/
I have been approached by a number of magazines wanting to do features on the car but I've not really had time to follow this up. The offers are still there, so anyone buying this car will have the chance to have it mag featured. I've also been asked to have it shot in a video feature, so again, there is scope to have the car given more publicity if wanted?
I don't really want to sell this car and I certainly don't have to.....but as all you car nuts will know, when something else interesting comes up you sometimes have to make sacrifices. This time, the something else interesting might be a bit bigger and more involved than just car builds! Basically, if it sells it sells. if it doesn't then I get to carry on enjoying it. ;D
So - about the car.
EXTERIOR
* MINT body - no dents, ZERO rust
* All arches have been professionally rolled and pulled. (no paint cracking, no bent edges...absolutely spot on)
* Fully rolled all round then pulled 1.5" at the rear and 0.5" at the front (without parking it next to another MX5 to compare, you wouldn't be able to tell it looks so 'right')
* Side repeaters and aerial holes have been properly blanked (welded)
* Front registration mount holes and badge holes front and rear have been filled on bumper
* Painted NATO satin green (including mirros, door shuts, underside of bonnet, underside of bootlid, slam panel etc...) - properly sprayed in a smooth and very, very even finish unlike spray cans or rollering like most satin cars tend to be
* Spoilerless bootlid fitted in place of original factory spoiler bootlid - also doesn't have high level brake light for clean look
* Front sidelights/indicators replaced with TSI vents, but with Fiat smoked repeaters bonded in for a clean look
* Corner reflectors adapted and wired up to act as side repeaters (all round)
* Carbing stainless steel towing eyes front & rear painted satin black
* Chrome door handles and deck plates keyed, etch primed then painted satin black
* Extensive strengthening and bracing added for roll bar fitment (far beyond what is needed)
* Safety Devices roll bar fitted far more securely than originally designed
* Garage Vary front splitter (original ABS version, not GRP replica)
* Lockwood mesh grille keyed, etch primed and painted satin black
* Removable sidemount registration plate bracket (quick release) with brand new reg plate - never been fitted! (brand new rear plate too)
* Very, VERY rare RS Active low profile rectangular headlights (only about four sets in the UK)
* Wipers freshly painted satin black and new blades fitted
* 16x9" (et15) Schmidt Moderline wheels finsihed in shadow chrome powder coat
* 215/35/16 Continental tyres
MECHANICAL
* Mechanically in perfect working order
* Factory LSD diff
* Full engine flush, oil service, spark plugs, filters etc...less than 1,000 miles ago
* Engine fires first turn of the key and not a hint of HLA clatter no matter how long it's been stood
* New K&N panel filter in original airbox less than 1,000 miles ago (most 'induction kits' actually lose power over stock induction system)
* Mazda factory S-Ltd strut brace colour coded NATO green & satin black
* New genuine Mazda gear selector boots/seals and bushes less than 1,000 miles ago
* New adjustable coilovers fitted (Raceland) having only covered approx 1,000 miles and still got over 12 months warranty left
* De-cat pipe
* Custom exhaust with stainless back-box courtesy of Rich. Sounds AWESOME! Not too loud, but highly, highly addictive
* A/C blower unit removed for better airflow in cabin, but could be put back in if wanted (rest of system in place)
INTERIOR
* Interior is 99% immaculate (100% except for slight bolster wear to drivers seat)
* Tan leather seats in VERY good condition. Some slight bolster wear, but otherwise excellent. Recently treated with three lots of conditioner to bring them back to being soft and supple. No rips, holes or tears.
* Interior pulled out and refitted as a two-tone mix of black & tan to break up the mass of tan.
* Black dashboard with tan capping
* Stainless steel 'teardrop' doorcards recovered in black vinly with tan capping and black handles
* Tan floor carpet with black rear carpet and black shelf carpet
* All tan plastic trim replaced with black trim
* Two tone is a much more pleasant looking interior than all tan or all black
* Imported wooden steering wheel with 'holographic' Hibiscus flower hornpush
* Mooneyes polished alloy gearknob
* RS Style stainless steel toggle switches for pop-up lights and hazards (mirror polished to match steering wheel & gearknob)
* Stainless steel 'teardrop' speaker surrounds on doors
* LOTS of sound deadening in key locations
* Fibreglass link-pipe in place of A/C unit (better flow of air through vents)
* Original V-spec brown pile carpet mats with original V-spec plaques
* Factory stainless optional kick/sill plates with custom 'Teenage Dirtbag' logos
* Brand new black leather gearknob gaitor and handbrake gaitor (black stitching)
* New electric window regulator & central locking solenoid in NS door
* Clifford CAT1 alarm with immobiliser, remote central locking and microwave sensor (you can leave the roof down)
* Remote boot release
* Extensive wiring for an audio set-up carefully loomed and installed using high quality wiring (* see below)
* CD player and front speakers including tweeters in door cappings (* see below)
EXTRAS
As well as the list above, there are some extras that will also come with the car within the asking price
* Vindi complete GRP bootlid/ducktail spoiler. This isn't your 'normal' stick-on ducktail, rather a complete full GRP bootlid with the ducktail spoiler built in. Currently in white gelcoat, I will supply a good quantity of NATO paint to get this sprayed (these are usually £250!!) - Stunning and rare!
* VERY RARE genuine RS Active low-pro headlights. Forget 'lazy eye' mods where your lights live in a state of droopiness (not cool), these are the real deal...gives the front of the MX5 a very aggressive look. Only a handful of sets in the UK and VERY sought after (NOW FITTED)
* Fujitsubo stainless 4 branch manifold - I picked this up a few months back and haven't had time to fit it yet. It's one of the best rated manifolds for the MX5
* Mk2 MX5 genuine factory hard top complete with heated glass screen. This has been colour co-ordinated NATO green and is in superb condition with the headlining all perfect etc...complete with all catches/latches both on the hard top and on the car (ready to fit) Complete with brand new rear screen trim from Mazda (just needs fitting...original was removed to paint the hard top properly) These hard tops will usually sell for around £400 - £600 in winter!!
There is probably (almost certainly) more I need to list, but I'll add to it as I remember.
* THE AUDIO.
Please note, the car will come with a CD player and speakers but will not be coming with any of the high end 90's Alpine/Kenwood audio that is installed or due to be installed (if I keep the car). All the speaker wiring in the car can be left if the buyer wants it to be left, or removed if preferred (there is a lot of it!) The RCA cables for the amps will be removed and the speaker wiring will only be of use if you are intending to run amps due to the way it has been routed. The power cables and fuse blocks in the boot area can be left or removed depending on preference.
If you were possibly interested in purchasing the full audio set-up or any part of it then you will need to speak to me in person. I am intending to keep it all but if you really really wanted the top spec 90's set-up then I might just consider selling it as a whole lot.
BAD POINTS!!
The rear screen of the hood has a crack in it about 2" long. Just the screen, the hood itself is fine. It's never bothered me because I always tend to drive with the roof down whenever possible. A new screen will be about £60-£80 fitted.
As for bad points...that's it!
OK, time for some photos....the car has been lowered more since any of these shots were taken. I'll add some pics of the car with the RS Active headlights shortly.
As already said, I do not need to sell this car so I'm more than happy to hang onto it. It's had well over 200 hours (probably nearer 300 hours) hard labour spent to get it to the level it is today and it shows. It was nominated for Retro Rides car of the year (post 1990) and it came a close second in the voting, the winner being Joe76's amazing Bosozoku Aixam. To be voted so close against that awesome car is an honour indeed!
If you have any doubts as to the quality and condition of this car, please come and have a look in person - I'll be more than happy to show you all around it and take you out in it.
The car is stored in a dry, secure garage at all times and had only seen water very, very briefly once since it has been in my ownership (a light shower at the Stanceworks meet in May).
Serious enquiries only please. Many thanks for looking,
Bruce.
P.S. More photos to come....
UPDATE
After being royally messed around a few times with this car, I have decided to alter the pricing according to what you get with the car.
For £2,500 you will get the car exactly as you see it in the photos above with all the items listed except for the 'extras' which are: the GRP Vindi bootlid, the Fujitsubo 4 branch manifold, the RS Active headlights (normal MX5 headlights will be fitted) or the hard top. All of the photos in this post show the car without these items...
For £3,000 you will get the car as above but also with the colour coded factory Mk2 hard top and the mega rare RS Active headlights (currently fitted)
For £3,275 you will get EVERYTHING inlcuding the hard top, the RS Active headlights and the other extras which are the Vindi GRP ducktail bootlid and the Fujitsubo stainless 4 branch manifold (and all the other spares I have in the garage like new brake pads, new wheel bearing, new air filter etc...none of which are needed at all, but I'll include anyway.
