times are changing and I need someone to love my wartburg. I've lost my love for it, and it'll never really do all I want it to brilliant little car, its a proper 2 stroke 993cc engined fun box
I've been kidding myself about the car and its better to let someone else love her now.
I got it needing resto and windscreen on ebay, it needed a lot of welding, you won't find a more solid one now though! its got a brand spanking new autoglass windscreen in it too and a reasonable coat of green paint. its not the best but if you knew what it took to get any paint to stick then you'd be very happy.
lets get some bad out the way first- its unregistered without paper work. I'll do you a receipt and I have the reciept from when I brought it. you will need a dating certificate to get a reg on her, which means talking nicely to the IFA club chairman. I will of course pass details of contacts onto the buyer. I have only half heartedly enquired with the club, they are easy enough to get hold of its just I dragged my heels. I beleive the secretary, john rushbrooke, posts on autoshite forum. it will need MOTing on the chassis number, insuriung on the same and then present that, receipt and dating letter to the dvla local orifice and they will issue a registration. simple eh? why haven't I? cos I'm a lethargic retard thats why and I have too much to occupy my brain ATM.
for MOT it needs a track rod end (available from reichtuning very easily) and maybe the headlights aligning. interior is OK, front headrests are missing and some dork has sprayed the doorcards black.
I know what it needs for MOT as I had an MOT inspector I know come and do a decent physical on her while I still had plans to get it roadworthy. it really only needs the TRE changing!
its got sw20 mr2 headlamps (yes- proper RHD) and they rock! its had a new headlight relay, rose jointed column gear shift, new plugs. runs nicely.
included in the sale are 5 allycat wheels in 6x13 flavour and four PCD adapters in steel to fit them to its ridiculous 4x160mm pcd! I also have a twin choke weber on CT tuning manifold for it.
igniton timing has all been setup too, what a ball ache! has had brake bias valve fitted to stop the extrodinarily powerful rear brakes overtaking the front end ;D
easy slam as its coils allround, peugeot 307 rear coils fit when you cut the pigtails off ;D and short shocks from minis will fit (the double eye ones (rears?)).
looking for around £650, these are not common at all! got a new top end gasket set to go with it and rare factory type workshop manual in english.
BIG edit! I should have said its left hand drive, you can't get a late one thats RHD as they stopped importing and converting them about 1975. but being column shift its actually rather easy to drive. its a four speed gearbox with overdrive 4th gear, apparently will do 88mph but the speedo under-reads by 10mph, as in get three points for 40 in a 30 like a guy I met....
the speedo is in KM/H I was going to run a sat nav in it. I have a spare NOS n/s/f front quarter complete for it too.
huge boot!
I'm sure I'll regret this but come on, grab a super rare bit of retro win!
