I've had a couple of months fun in this, time to move it on.
Low mileage, one owner from new type affair. Was only moved on when the first owner died. Bought by a trader, then by the last owner that bought it to use as a wedding car. He drove it 150 miles home, where it sat in his driveway for best part of a month.
I drove it home, where it went straight through an MOT, NO ADVISORIES AT ALL!
Its in very good condition, apart from the scuffed bumper corners and a couple of heavy scratches around the car. There's a small dent on the fron passenger door, just at the lower swage line, and a small dent to the chrome trim on the bootlid. The only rust on the entire car is some scabbing to the rear arches. I dug half a ton of dirt from the rear arches the first time I cleaned it. It has obviously spent most of it's life getting a regular Sunday morning Tesco autowash, as the paint was almost satin. I've since machine polished the horizontal surfaces, and polished and waxed the whole car and it shines very well.
I purchased a set of 6*14 Wolfrace slotmags from a fellow RR member, whereupon I stripped the paint off, polished them by hand and fitted them with some new 165/60*14 tyres. These have done around 600 miles so far. The wheels are fitted with correct sleeve nuts and washers supplied by Mr T.
Will also come with standard alloys with good tyres, and relevant wheel nuts.
Springs are chopped front and rear, it still rides very nicely and they don't disclocate due to being cable tied in.
The rear silencer has been replaced with a cherry bomb to release the straight six burble. It's certainly not loud or antisocial, just a pleasant sound.
Rear lenses are tinted red, and some brighter headlight bulbs installed. I've also fitted legal import size plates to the car.
The interior is pretty much mint, save a worn patch on the drivers carpet, which is covered by a mat anyway. The voice warning system is in fully working order, as is the airconditioning which blows nice and cold. The electric aerial is U/S, you hear the motor working, but I suspect the cable has snapped, so the aerial is permanently up.
Its fully loaded, with e/m, e/w, e/sr, PAS etc etc, all in perfect working order.
Oh, and the rear seat has a recline facility too.
Engine and box work perfectly, very smooth gearchanges. The car has been looked at by Datman (Will), who fixed a high idle issue and also re-gapped the cam followers as the top end was a bit 'loose'. There's still a tap from one follower. Will showed me that the cam lobe was slightly scored, but maintained that it was not an issue, and the cost of living with the tap was much less than replacing the cam.
