Model 1970 Barkas fire tax free.Moted four months,but been told it could be even Mot free as its a fire truck.Nottinghamshire. Its Very solid body work sills ,floor like new,2 stroke 900 engine 25,000 klm could be true with it being a fire truck.I have only just had it but the girlfriend don't like it.It would be great as a camper.It did drive on my drive but I am having trouuble starting it.I have put some petrol in but it still not started up,I think its because my drive is on a hill and the petrol finding it hard to travel.I know its had new points and plugs which need setting as not much power.Thinking about it there could be curse word thats come from the bottom of the petrol tank.There is fire hoses and ends to go with it but if you don't want them because you want to make into a camper I would like them for my other fire truck.I am waiting for the v5 to come as its only just be posted.I paid £1,650 for it and £275 to get it trailered home 3 days ago.I want £and thats a bargin It was sol to my brother but he has told me he does not have the time.

Yep you mix the oil with the petrol.It is a really nice solid van.Look great with some nice wheels on it.

Your starting issue is typical Barkas. Most have it -mine does it too. The fuel pump is powered by crankcase ventilation, or something bizarre.
As a result the pump wont pick up till its running -kinda chicken & egg.
You can slosh some fuel into the top of the carb-use a fairy liquid bottle & you can get to it thru the access hatch without dismantling all the covers.
That may run it long enough to sort itself-might need repeating..
Most fit one of those small manual rubber bulbs-often found under the bonnets of diesels to aid bleeding when theyve runout. It may already have one on it-under the smallhatch-in front of the carb?
2 or 3 quick squeezes- ready to go. Excellent security device (except I've given it away now)!

Thanks for that it does sound like little petrol.Who ever buys this will get a really nice van and if made into a camper even better.You can see i am not making any money on it.
