Additional Information:
Bought last September as a temporary replacement while I worked on my wife’s Triumph this is now surplus to our needs. It was fully restored over a period of 11 years, finishing in 2001. Between then and last September it had done only 1300 miles of summer Sunday use and was garaged.
The restoration details I have include:
Bare metal re-spray incorporating lots of new panels
Rebuilt unleaded spec engine
Recon gearbox and overdrive
Recon rear axle
New carbs
Uprated anti roll bars/handling kit (important mod on these early rubber bumper cars)
Complete steering/suspension rebuild
Stainless exhaust
New brake master cylinder, servo, slave cylinders, callipers, brake lines etc.
Halogen headlights
New carpet, door panels, cappings, centre console etc.
All five wheels and various parts under the bonnet were stove enamelled.
We bought it with no MOT but it passed one easily. Mileage at the MOT was 95552 As such it has MOT until September 15th and is taxed until the end of August.
Jobs I have done include:
Changed oil/filter
Front wheels balanced
Replaced all rubber fuel pipes after one split
Fixed broken wire to gearlever OD switch
Fixed handbrake as levers in the drums were incorrect
Fitted new ¼ light catch
Replaced passenger seat base cover.
Replaced hazard light switch and hazard flasher unit
Replaced fan switch in radiator
ISO wiring connector added for stereo and speaker cables run to the rear (stereo and speakers not included in sale)
Mileage today stands at 98854
Negative points:
The car was home sprayed and as such the paint job is not perfect with some microblistering in places. Still looks very smart though.
Minimal bubbling at one rear wing/c pillar join.
There’re a couple of very small holes in the drivers seat base fabric.
Rear de-mist is sporadic
All in all it is a very good condition car, best described as an older restoration but one that has not really declined since the major work was done. Was advertised in 2006/7 for £3500.
Now for sale at £2600 ono.
