I bought this Jetta off another RR's member last year to keep myself busy while I was a bit quiet with work. I'm selling it as I'm after a small van, ie. Astra van.
As stated above, it is a 1991 Mk2 VW Jetta GTI with the standard 1.8 8v digifant engine and is finished in Tornado Red. The engine has 126k on the clock and runs fantastic. It has just had a service, apart from the air filter as it has a green cone filter fitted (the standard airbox is supplied if you wanted to go back to it). No strange noises, smoke, over heating, etc. I've replaced the water header tank as the old one was very nasty looking on the inside, so have flushed the whole system out and replaced with anti-freeze. There is a twin pipe stainless steel backbox on the rear that sounds very nice, no chavvy nonsense, just a nice rumble.
On the outside, the Jetta is finished in Tornado Red which is in quite good condition, but does have a few small dings and scratches. There is however one part where the paint is cracked, it isn't too bad, but it's there, see the picture below. I don't think it'll take much to sort it out, but I'm no good at bodywork stuff, hence leaving it for someone more professional to sort. There is a small amount of surface rust on the rear on the boot lid and where the VW badge is on the rear. I do also have a replacement boot lid I will throw in that I think is the same coulor. I may even fit it if I get a chance. Other than the surface rust just stated, there is zero rust/rot anywhere else. There is a problem with the sunroof meaning it won't open and the seal was knackered so it was letting water in. I have rectified this by sealing the sunroof up with sealant. It is easily taken out if you wanted to make use of the sunroof, but personally, I don't mind not having it. It also has the rare option of washer jets mounted on the bumpers. These alone I've had many PM's about selling them. It is sitting on mixed size steel wheels at the minute, but I do have some good steel wheels with good tyres for it. It is also sitting on 40mm lowering springs.
The interior is in very good condition, showing very few signs of wear. The interior in the car originally was mismatched and very tatty looking. I managed to source a genuine Jetta GTI interior so that is now fitted. There is one very small part that has been repaired in the past, but they still look very good. There is no bolster wear at all and all of the foam is still tip-top. Has the usual stuff on the inside, GTI steering wheel, original golfball gearknob, manual windows, mirrors, but does have central locking that is in good working order. The headlining has suffered from a bit of sagging at the rear due to the sunroof. I have repaired this as best I could, but still isn't perfect.
Righto, pictures. I gave her a wash today and took some new photos.
Negative parts.
This is the crack in the paint on the OSR door. As you can see, it isn't too bad, I've angled the camera here to show it at it's worst. If you look at the OS photo of the car, you can't see it.
Rust on the rear.
Repair on the drivers seat.
Overall, this car is a great car. I do love my Jetta's, had a few now, and would genuinely like to keep it, but as it always is, space, wanting a smaller van, etc. means I need to sell it. Genuine Jetta GTI's are becoming more rare now, so would make a great car to keep hold of.
Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
I am located about 10 minutes from either M6 J5, J6, J7 or approx. 15 minutes M42 J9.
