We are pleased to launch a new event for early next year! The Retro Rides January Jumble will take place on Sunday January 22nd at Stevenage Arts and leisure Centre. Address : Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre Lytton Way Stevenage Herts, SG1 1LZ mapPrimarily an autojumble, but of course an ideal opportunity for us all to catch up! As a double added bonus we'll be announcing the results of the Retro Rides Awards and handing out the awards to those in attendance. This is THE time for you to have your post christmas garage clear out!.. and being at the Arts & Leisure Centre it is of course INDOORS! A jumble spot is just £20 (which gets you a 6ft frontage space), and is pre-book ONLY. Entry on the day (no pre-booking) for the public is just £3 per person and £1 per child (ages 3-16) OR £5 for a family! (2 adults and up to 3 kids) There is loads of parking around the venue (which will cost £1.20 for the day on a Sunday), and also a large entertainment complex should the wife/kids wish to go off elsewhere. Further details will come shortly, but in the meantime you can book your jumble spot by emailing me on rrgathering at gmail dot com The nature of the venue (being indoors) dictates that space is limited and so all Jumble spots will be sold first come first served. Akku, to be honest I'm not going to predict numbers for the event. Its our first year doing this and so who knows. It all depends if people choose to get behind it and trade/turn up. Price wise, we're doing all we can!
Rest assured we'll be getting as much exposure for the event as we can do. We'll push through the same avenues as we do for the Gathering and see where it gets us.
It was interesting to see that as soon as I tweeted it this morning I had three local Stevenage news twitter feeds start following me though!

Akku, don't worry I'll be there trading... And I'll still come back with more than I left with There's a similar event in Taunton that usually has around twenty to fifty traders and a couple of hundred people milling around. Like Keefy said if people get behind it, it will work, commitment is what's needed here. The hot rod swap meets/jumbles etc don't really work for a majority of us, so there isn't anything else like this. I have some 12x15in steels, a stash of mags, a Porsche 944 leather steering wheel, some Land Rover steels, a roof rack. All of which would be a pain to sell through the forum, but face to face for a few pounds here and there they should go alright. It'll be a good social if nothing else |
