Doncaster Sports and Custom Car Show
« Thread Started on Oct 23, 2008, 3:08pm »

The original Donny Show.... Was on last weekend, and back to the original format. There were still a few Max Power type cars but they were parked up out of the way. Photos of them are included for completeness, and 'cos some people here may like that sort of thing.

Lots of bikes, lots of cool cars, and proper cool ones too. The indoor show was 100% quality tin from edge to edge and the outisde parking area was full of cool machinery too.

Lots of photos to follow....

first lot coming up. More will be added later...

I'm going to start with the outside cars, the WTF??? stuff and the hatches. Come back later for the inside show cars and "Best in Britain" stuff.

There was a small (?) display of customised yankee haulage stuff, imagine this thing belting down the M1 pulling a matching trailer....

Dunno what these guys were on, but there was a whole lineup of 4x4 J-tin pickups and SUV with wild mural paint. Must be a South Yorkshire thing.

OK, there was a fair lineup of Scoobies and the like, but they all looked pretty ordinary so no pics there, what I did snap was the local modded hatch stuff. Love it or hate it?

I like Gen 6 Celicas. Mrs Akku had one. Very competant cars. Ours didn't look like this

I believe the inspiration for this Punto was Darth Vader's helmet. The one on his head, mucky!

BMW with Ferarri inspired venty things

Hot Neon? Now in the US there are some proper quick ones. No idea if this is or not. The idea interests me though... But I am frequently full of poor ideas. Seen a pretty much stock Neon SRT4 run 13s though. They yanks have taken them to 11s for sure, and probably quicker. Not bad for FWD grandma car.

Bad Boi Beemer

Rover's fog lamps appear to have a squint!

Despite myself, I kinda like this.

It looked even pinker in real life.

Got to dash now, but a pile up of SERIOUS OOOOF is coming to this thread!

And the most OOOF in one building in South Yorkshire in the history of OOOOF '08 YOWSERS!

Judging by the quality of vehicles there, i'm looking forward to the main event in April next year.

I thought they were banning the Max Power stuff due to them having their own show a couple of weeks before.

Good to see the old show back, but lets keep the Max Power brigade at their own show.

Thinking Amazon with darker shade of grey roof, I like the sound of that.

I preffered that Willys when it was on steels, flipper caps and wide whites. Cool unusual mild custom. 8-)

That Daimler hemi powered rod rings bells from many moons ago. The body/colour combo at least.

I presume tha "Thor" of the mid engineed VW is the same guy who had the Riviera local to you Akku?

was that Willys yellow then, with Brizzo bumpers, or was than another one? I like both.

And yeah, same Thor. Not that common a name really ;D He had the VW way before the Riv. This is its 2nd incarnation. I think the first was Street Machine featured in like 1991.

Lets have some bikes...

Well, its bike engined... I think. Or a Rover K series. I dunno.

OK, time for some rodz

:D

but first...

these guys were in a tent outside

this is how it was back in the day. I remember Donny '82 and the Belle Vue show in Birmingham and it was like this

Fatty!

Candy...

Woody

And my personal pick for "BiB" would have been this AWESOME Standard Flying 12. The quality, the craftsmanship, the attention to detail... fantastic...

T5 Powered too...

However, the judges thought this was "Best"

hard choice to make.

This is "Missy", a very charming burlesque dancer who also gets my BiB vote LOL. I do have a photo of me taken with her but I'm not putting that up as I look to be enjoying it too much and if my wife ever sees it...

This I liked a lot too.

Love the detail work on it

Got dish?

Anglia (above) is sumptiously trimmed (below)

Mmmmmm, rainbow flake

Custom Car magazine rather uncharitably described this car as "fresh out this year but looking dated already"

Why does this C cab always make me think of Pizza Express?

Or perhaps something else just now...

Ah, that Olds again

She pinky, me perky :D

Tee hee

Pop time...

and something a little more trad (spot the CC cover car...)
