A couple of months ago I got a PM from Nick (Mr K) about a sprint at the Rushmoor Arena (of Wheels Day fame) organised by the Farnborough District Motor Club. As it fell on the last sunday of my easter holiday my dad and I obviously couldn't resist
Anyway, it was on sunday and was possibly one of the best value events I've attended, beautifully organised with six runs each of an interesting and challenging course, they'd even managed to put on some lovely dry weather for us!
The first few runs were fairly... wayward.. the track was quite gravelly and sandy and therefore not the grippiest of surfaces which led to me using parts of the curbs and surrounding grass on a couple of occasions. I also struggled with the seat coming loose and sliding all the way back, and an intermittent hot-starting problem which surfaced every now and again. Once the lines had cleaned up a bit I found that the car was very well balanced, as good as no understeer on turn in even verging on oversteer if really pushed hard, but the line could be corrected by applying a bit of throttle to push it wide again.
I managed to grab a 4th in class and 24th overall, which i'm extremely happy with considering the competition (1380 mini, 1380 marcos and renault alpine all on slicks), and I managed to beat all the 205 GTis there!
Unfortunately youtube isn't playing fair with the videos so I'll leave you with the event report... spot the RRers! We're both mentioned
