Hi all well I was first introduced to this site as I needed a run around quick.. a google search led me here and to this:
It became mine and I became part of the great retro rides family.. which I absoloutely love ;D
Well obviously a bit of work started and I went to my first gathering RR'08
and left with this too.. my mrs was officially now into retro cars
Well life took over and stuff kinda ground to a halt.. until I seemed to loose all my skill. gr8 for driftin
As my only car it didn't take long till it was back on the road after new rack column and bonnet and wing
It was about this time I met davemk1gti.. and together plans were hatched first was removing trim and cutting bumpers back somewhat
I rocked it like that till the run up to RR'09 when this idea was hatched:
(god that still rocks )
My mind got carried away and parts collected but no work done!
That is until the week before the show..
new rear lights:
bit of a retrim:
some added bullets ;D
Then the inevitable happened, we got drunk at the gathering and the photoshop idea was still in my mind fuelled by alcohol this happened, much to the amusement of an ever growing audience.
Yes I forgot to stir the paint, yes it was dark and the paint was black and yes we made a mess (my feet and hands are still black )
Obviously the morning after another coat was needed but eventually I made the trek from the campsite to the show:
Well back to the news.. this is my daily and while I have huge plans, its dawned on me recently that to achieve them I would have to take it off the road.. something I sadly cant afford to do, couple that with time constraints thanks to work and a looming wedding and chances are it will look the same come the next RRG
That thought doesn't please me.. infact it makes me cross! lol. There is another thing that plays on my mind.. its the car itself. It really rocks but has spent so much time within the RR crew that it feels more part of RR than part of me.. if you catch my drift. Best example is the wheels.. they make the car no doubt and I LOVE them.. but they are and rightly so will forever be Si's (black8drivers) masterpiece. So I have that niggle in my mind that the car is just a volvo with some wheels by someone else.. I want a car thats mine as well as the communitys.
So after some chatting it looks like the volvo is moving on to pastures new.. its taught me to love retros, rekindled my love of RWD and brought me to two gatherings and been responsible for countless memories.
The car is staying with us and being passed on to Ben711200 in exchange for a tatty MX5 (assuming neither of us have a change of mind!) I'm aprehensive but excited too.. the MX5 will be a new little project and hopefully will allow me the opportunity to get another volvo to make truely my own.. (a plan is already hatched.)
So thanks to RR, thanks to all its previous owners and thanks to the Volvo.. I'm gonna miss it.
