excuse the edit.
so it seems that one or two think that E2A should never have raced ever again
why do you think that it would have been sold with the promise of never to race it? really doubt it would have had anything to do with keeping it preserved.
i think the reason was because if it beat Jaguars of the mid/late 60's or even in the 70's then it wouldn't have looked very good for the Jaguar brand to be beaten by an older prototype. think about it. i doubt is was worth much at the time and was going to be broken up anyway, so why else would there have been a promise for it not to see a race track?
and for the record the original brake calipers were totally disintigrating and new ones were made to look exactly the same at great expence. everything that has been removed from the car has been bagged, labled and boxed. even all the rot old bushes have been kept.
E2A was far from being able to be driven so saying it should have been left as it was is just rediculous.
i'm glad to have played a small part in the cars history which is now a lot more exciting than being stuck in the corner of a museum.
