I agree - I always thought they had the best frontend I had ever seen on a car

Gorgeous from the front, not so from the back but it all adds to why I like it. How much do these fetch?

Agreed with all the above. A friend of mine owns one and if you saw how they are built, you'd laugh...but it just makes me want one more! Shut lines? San Andreas faults more like. Some panel work around the rear arches inside the door shuts looks like offcuts of plate held in with silicone etc...all of which makes the car feel more personal with none of that clinical precision that makes some cars devoid of personality. The interior is AWESOME! The tan seats are beautiful in shape and really comfortable too. The rear where the seat would normally be is just a mass of carpet! Then there is the noise! Simply spine chilling. A real oddball that just works on every level. If you don't get it then you aren't a petrolhead. Stunning lines and form which cannot be mistaken for any other car. Ageless, timeless, yet so 90's at the same time. I also love the 'follow up' concept called the Proteo. A lot of the styling cues came from the SZ which in turn led to the styling for the GTV. Somewhere upstairs I have the original 'typed' press release for the Proteo complete with proper studio photos of the vehicle which I got direct from Alfa. Yes, I've been a fan of the SZ since the day it was released! Would I love to own one myself? You bet. Sure it's not a supercar, in fact it's not anything really except a quirky testament to what Alfa is so good at....putting passion into their cars and this was one of their finest examples for many decades as far as I am concerned. Personally I think it's actually better than 99% of supercars and must say a massive thanks for posting it up. Always nice to see more pics of them but it really doesn't help with my massive want for one!

I think the entire body was either fibre glass or plastic, the body colour was actually that gelcoating in the fibreglass, I think? Might explain the 250 made and no tooling for the body panels. I know the engine appeared in the GTV of the time. I remember seeing it in these games, Supercars 1 & 2. (Along with Cizeta and NSX). Would love to see more photos apart from the usual old ones on the web, it's a very photogenic car. I love the back end!

Been on my want list for a long long time... always thought a drop and some decent sized rims would aid the aesthetics and this confirms it:

i was working for Alfa Romeo at that time, we actually sold one, you had to put down 50% deposit on order and the rest when the car was produced... built quality was even in Alfa Romeo terms very shonky (especially for that price) ... don't ask for spare parts prices That was the time when the secondhand Ferrari prices were really high, i know of a few people that bought these cars and tried to sell them on with a huge profit... soon after that the economy went down and they lost a lot of money... anyway, a nice car and a brave decision to produce these in limited numbers...

They seem to range in price from 20k -> 30k. I'd rather splurge on one of these than a new 3 series BMW, if I was some kind of executive or something.

That's an RZ, I'd rather have the SZ! Not that I have any option of buying either!
