kinda like the girls car compact merc never made  i cant quite decide wether its hideous or quite cool. theres good use of 124 parts to make it look 'right', and it kinda has a hint of delta integrale to it. but then theres something about it that just doesnt seem to gel. maybe I'm just not used to seeing a merc that high  would be good to get some more info on it. |

First thought I had was Delta Integrale too Dez. It's quite cool, or is it? There's something weird about the length of the nose in relation to the rear cutoff

It was or is located in Berlin. But that's an old license plate so maybe it's already somewhere else.

Needs longer doors and no rear quarter lights to improve the looks, not so keen myself, not that i think it looks bad, but i don't think its really "Mercedes" if you want a coupe, they do nice coupes, if you need a lift up tailgate buy an estate, if you must have 4 passengers buy a saloon, if you want a short merc, buy an A class or a Smart.

What makes it look so wrong, is that it is so obviously a four door with the rear doors welded shut.
It needs longer front doors and also an one-piece rear side window.
That could actually make it work (but on the other hand, sedans does in 9 cases out of 10 look better than hatches).
BTW, speaking about "compact", that is the name that is used in Sweden for the W114/115 models, but I've heard that it is only in Sweden people know that model as the "Mercedes Compact" and that it is unknown in the rest of the world. True or false?

Okay, new informations on this one:
Seems to be an official Mercedes modell called City Coupé. Word on the street says 10 of them were built in Stuttgart.

BTW, speaking about "compact", that is the name that is used in Sweden for the W114/115 models, but I've heard that it is only in Sweden people know that model as the "Mercedes Compact" and that it is unknown in the rest of the world. True or false? It's not referred to as that in the UK, however I do have a feint memory of reading something about it being launched as the new "compact" Mercedes. Perhaps the term caught on well in Sweden but nowhere else! ;D |

I think the rear hatch needs to be at a steeper angle, similar to an ae86.

the A class or smart didnt exist in 1991 though they were obviously filling a gap in the market, to some extent. all the airs and graces of a merc but with no rear overhang so 'easier to park'. aimed at women with a lack of spacial awareness or a grasp of the concept of rear overhang. aiming for the same market as the bmw compact did when it came out......... |

I'm a fan of the 3-series compact so I like this. Losing the boot kinda takes the 'pimp' out of a bimmer/merc coupe. There's nowhere to hide a body.
Bonnet looks weird if you concentrate too much. But I love this sort of proportion E-type, Z3 coupe.
But it does need longer doors.
