Afternoon, I've always wanted a bobber but Triumph/Harley prices are very high, especially when your going to cut it about and have never done it before. About a month ago this popped up locally on ebay and after going to see it a deal was done and it came home with me. Although the guy I bought it off found it in a ditch it's now correctly registered in my name so the work can begin. Although it hadn't run for about 4-5 years I put some fresh fuel in and it fired up on the second kick scaring the curse word out of me! The carb could do with a tune but it sounds and rides rather nice. It's not been on the road for 13 years but the overall condition is quite good. The plan for now is to spend as little as possible to get it through a MOT (daytime?) so I can get the engine running spot on before the frame work begins. I've been playing chase the hole with Gary gas welder this week. I didn't want to buy new silencers as I have a feeling they'll blow off after the MOT. As I said, i've never done a bike before so if you see something i'm doing wrong let me know.

Cheers gents
Si, could do with a front sprocket guard. Mines been dropped at some point and smashed. Might need a few other bits but I plan to make most stuff. Would like a wider rear wheel and maybe smaller diameter too if anyone has one?
Got a couple of questions already, do I need indicators? i'm sure i've read they're only required on post 86 bikes. Also, do I need a speedo and if the headlight is mounted will it have to be tested or shall I take it off for the daytime MOT?

You are right about the indicators stuff, but you will have to lose the indicator controls or tape them up.......if the switch is still usable then they have to work and as for daytime mot.........wouldnt bother mate as its actually alot of hassle if you go by the book when it comes to using the bike(gotta be home before sunset, pigs get a bit nosey etc etc) just get it upto normal mot standard......pass it then do whatever it is you wanna do then

I've been on holiday this week so i went back into work and did this.... As you can see the whole idea of getting it on the road quick has gone out of the window. The frame is not finished as it needs a whole lot of bracing but i'm happy with it so far.

If you shorten the forks enough to make the tank level, it could be epic. Nice tube work btw!

Just a bit of clarification, you don't need indicators if your bike can only carry one person. If your bike has two sets of footpegs you are required to fit them.
I had this in writing (along with numerous other minor points) after getting loads of grief riding just-legal enduro bikes for ages.

Thankyou chaps,
I wanted the tank to be the same angle as the rear bars but unless i went for a silly wheelbase it wasn't happening. Might get another tank yet if one comes up cheap enough as about 2 minutes after these pics were taken it all fell over and bashed the original tank. You still got that in writing Joe? might need it if one day. How's that 100E motor going?

Si, i'll give you a shout about the tank. Only had a quick look but didn't seem to bad.
manbearpig, The rear mudguard isn't great but i was planing to use the front on the back so if you want it it's yours.

EDIT - Somerset - i'll figure out a way of getting it. Howmuch do you want for it/do you mind packaging it for postal? Also, don't suppose you have a photo of it do you? cheers.
