Hi all, Have browsed this site for years looking at all the projects that go on here, and when I finally bought something 'retro' I thought I'd sign up. This is my 1984 Toyota Corolla, Basics:1.3 5 Door 82k Pictures:The Cars been sat for 4 years, so isnt perfect, but 188 on brakes and a bit of sheet metal and itll be ok. Only has 2 rust patches that need welding and they arent massive so I cant complain. other then that it needs a bonnet (which is 120 ) and itll be road worthy! Thanks for looking ill update as and when I get bits done. Ben!

Another cornish guy on here. nice, We locals seem to be taking over the site lol.
On a serious note, Youre not far from me and I'm in liskeard quite often (my old car went there) so I'll have to keep an eye out for this, don't see many of the liftbacks like that around.

rare old car that. should be possible to make it very very fun by fitting a 4AGE from a AE92 corolla gti fairly easily

should be on the road end of next month, not rushing anything and making sure its all done properly. I was looking at 4AGE engines and they're not too expensive either. just need to find a unit i can have for weekend tampering before i look too far into engines.

Small 'no pic' update (forgot to take them)
Fitted a DVD stereo during the week and a bit of audio in the boot, really pleased with the outcome because unless you open the boot you really cant tell its there (unless its on).
Also popped down the local mill auto, who for once have beaten other places prices, and ordered new discs, pads, shoes and cylinders. Drums seem in good condition so I'm not replacing those yet.
On a worse note, iv discovered a bit more rust, and am now in desperate need of somewhere that i can weld it up with a friend asap...

I can see why, rot seems to like them, but only in unusual places... however, we have an update the usual stuff really, brakes are done. put steels back on the front found more rust: Spotlight arrived - and made yellow. thats all for now. if it stops raining ill be out there again today... roll on payday.

Not to shabby a very popular colour in south africa mainly sedans and conquests the 1.6 16v are unbreakable still one of the most popular and often turbod the avante the one you have has become a rarity here as there was a small issue with them and they had a tendency to roll over so a good without a new roof is hard to find. best of luck you got a good one.

Thats new news, every bit of paper work I can find says its a plain old GL... I know the last 2 owners and they know the one previous to that and as far as I'm aware it came on the steelies. will look into it now though... Todays antics: Take white lights and walk away leaving car in this state: and make them yellow Take off front end to check for rust and fit spot surprisingly rust free which I'm verrry happy about. tomoros job, rain permitting, rear brakes.

This weekends antis have been quite productive xD
I have finished the brakes. So new shoes, cylinders, discs and pads are now on. bled the brakes dry, and re filled with new fluid.
I have also fitted a new battery, wired the switch in for the spotlight. just got to fuse it now... oops. Knew id forgotten something.
And tonight has seen me buy a bonnet. and arrange a garage, with 2 poster ramp to weld her up.
Jobs left now:- Front Shocks Welding Fix Sidelights (fuses blowing for no reason, wiring issue somewhere i think) Sort out misfire. (think its just a dirty plug) Radiator.
On the radiator note, anyone know the ins and outs of running aluminum rads on non performance cars. thinking about getting one to allow 4AGE upgrade, not sure what itll do....
cheers. Ben

so if i was to upgrade the rad to a larger one would that have any adverse effects? I'm not sure i completeky understand the aspect of size to cooling when it comes to rads....
