Hey guys, got a new car that I hope many will appreciate. This is my 1988 Mitsubishi Colt GLX. 1.5 carb engine. Interior is a bit grubby but from just a quick wipe it seems like no problem. Will get onto cleaning it tomorrow. And here's the kicker... 18,700 miles!! The car was owned by an old man who bought it new when he was 67 and recently gave up driving at the age of 90, which makes me the cars second owner in 23 years!! Sadly the old boy felt no need to keep the paperwork and didn't think it was important and chucked it, but the car definitely looks like it would have done this sort of milage! Everything feels like new, and the engine is still as it left the factory, bar servicable items being changed and a new battery. Anyway hope you guys enjoy! Cheers

excellant buy, is this the one from ebay recently?? - I worked on these when they were new, easy to work on. The 3 dr must be very very rare now.
I've got 2 saloon versions of this (Lancer, one of which is 26,000 from new) I also broke one up last year so if you need any bits let me know. Any plans with it ?? keep us posted

Thanks dude! Yeah this is the one from ebay. I'm so happy with how great condition it is in. You just never see these on the roads, and if you do its never in this great condition so I'm over the moon.
Thanks to my insurance company though who refuse to insure a car of this age, I have got to wait until July for renewal (when my 1 years NCB comes in) so gonna have to declare it SORN and will just keep it on the drive where I can clean it up and touch up bits on it.
As for plans. Part of me wants to deck it on a set of Lotus Eclat wheels, the other side of me wants to keep it dead stock and clean. I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Thanks! Yeah it is. Thing is I can't keep it completely standard. I'm just not made that way! haha. But for now I just plan to change the plates (Maybe to import size plates), and putting in yellow headlight bulbs (They reflect well in the headlight glass). I just tried out how a US size plate would look. Without a Dodge Colt rear panel with the rear plate fitment, I could technically get it to fit if I had blocks behind the plate to level it out with the ridge of the panel at the bottom. It is something I am debating, I have to be honest! Otherwise it will just be UK size plate on back and import on front.

Now this is 'my kinda car'.....very angular/boxy, a bit quirky, very 80's and brimming (to the point of spilling over) with potential. LOVE IT! Please do it justice? This has the potential to be one of my fave cars if done right. I've still got those wheels if you were interested? My bad for forgetting to take some pics for you....I promise I will when I get back mid-next week Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.... ;D

Thanks dude! Still interested in them, and it's cool there is no rush for me because if I had them I wouldn't put them on straight away anyway. I want to keep it standard for a bit before I jump into any of that because its just in so tidy I want to appreciate its standardness for the moment. ;D ;D

Thanks Bruce And if you insist on more pics.. cleaned the boot up today. Still need to find something better than I have now for cleaning the plastics though. Note the lack of number plate... Still deciding if I should get 13x6 plates. Would be a bit of a tight fit though. Got the front plate off today, and the fitment seems about right for a 13x6 / 13x7 plate too!

I find one of the best things for cleaning is good old baby 'wet wipes'.
Seriously, get about four packs for £3.00 (or something like that) - Asda own brand/Sainsburys/Tesco......just not the expensive branded packs. Bloody brilliant at cleaning things that most car interior cleaners can't. Even good for getting dirt/marks out of fabrics....and carpets etc...
Once done, keep a pack in the car for cleaning dirty hands etc...once you start using them you can't live without them. I always keep a pack in every car and use them all the time.

Thats minter than a mint thing! Wheels and lows would be cool, but I can see why you`d keep it standard.

Haha cheers guys.
Thanks Bruce I'll get onto that. Although would they really work for such things as proper caked in dirt?
As for selling it on.. hopefully I won't have to come to that so soon after buying it! ;D

Just come back from a party with Charlie Sheen Apparently effective at "soaking up smells", Ive covered the seats in baking soda and will leave till Saturday morning when my brother will be round to help me clean the car up some more. (4 hands are better than 2!). Basically I was told to just cover the seats / carpets in baking soda, leave there for a couple of days then hoover it all up / clean the seats. The smell isn't strong in the car, in fact some people didn't notice it, but I took the air freshener out the other day and the smell was starting to come back. Also got some vanilla magic trees to help out once this is done
