Hi all , this is my daily driver 1997 mazda mx-3 that ive been working on for the last 2 years. Had the arches rolled yesterday so I could fit my new 3SDM 15 x 8J deep dish alloys, and took my colovers up a few more turns. Plans for this year & next are to fit up a light pressure turbo setup to begin with. Full story can be found here www.uk-mx3.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2143&start=0Hope you enjoy the pics

I never liked these cars, thought they looked a bit lacking, but yours looks very tasty!
Presume same engine as an MX5?

Thanks..I guess you could say they are a little underpowered for their chassis, but this is were the 2.5 KL-ZE conversion comes in, or the Turbo in my case. The BP-T (323GTX) swap is also very popular in the states, but thats quite a rare engine over here and would be a shame to pull apart a 323 just for its heart. Also the styling is not to everybodys taste, and the lack of any fresh looking bodykits out there, but with all those curves and a few subtle tweeks, its hard not to love this car which has plenty of charachter, and is none too shabby in the twistys. Same engine yes, bar a few differences like Cams, ECU, rocker cover, inlet and the lack of piston oil spray bars, but it can handle some lovely boost just like the MX-5. Ha ha Hello Hammy, nice to be on here, I recognise a few names on here, like Cybernck the boss of my old forum 205Ggtidrivers! Cheers Bud! Hopefully we can catch up at Japfest again? Hi leigh thanks for the compliment, I have toyed with the idea of a bodykit, but theres nothing out there, apart from a few rare and expensive Mazdaspeed peices that really works well on this car, they just look so sooo dated. I wanted to give mine a fresh face, hence the bumper and a few other tweeks. The deep dish wheels and ride height have come from ogling too many slammed and dished MX-5s thinking I want some of that, but I needed to have 4 seats and a decent boot.

My sister in law has a v6, bit less tidy than yours though! Looks really good, I think these will definitely start to get more popular soon, shame they're not rear wheel drive like the 5 though, what are they like to drive?

Never driven a V6 myself but have heard they are very smooth, I love having 16valves at the moment though ( having been used to a 8valve turbo 205) The drive is great , seating position very good, gives you that lovely wraparound coupe feel, its still quite sprinty for a 1600 and is very agile with plenty of grip in the corners, and the passive rear stear does help too, not as raw as a 205 but still very good fun! Yes if it were RWD I'm sure they would be pretty popular. I guess the only downside for some is it can be exspensive to upkeep and modify depending on how far you want to go with it, but they are cheap to buy!

Knocked up this stainless steel fuse box cover today, need some velcro dots to attach it with though. Ive also got a cheeky little waterslide decal to go on there. probably all need clearcoating once its on there.

It is odd that i like this, as i used to hate them, but now... i do not. Looks quite cool when that low with small wheels. Should be nice with a turbo too

Wow, just have to echo a few others and say that this car has changed my opinion on them, always thought they looked a bit odd and ungainly. You've made one that isn't!
