Hi guys, It's been a while since I've done one of these! As most had probably seen, there were a few cars on here that had been stored for a while and the owner just wanted rid of them. Well, today I picked up my new project ;D After selling Mrs MiniDan's Hornet a few years ago, we've been looking for another (Hornet or Elf) and after seing the advert for this one, it was ideal. This is the only picture I've got so far after it was loaded onto my truck. Had a quick look round before I put it in my unit. The floor is shot, likewise the sills. It's got it's lean on, so the suspension has gone on the one side. Interior is tatty and carpets are dead. But, first impressions don't look too bad Going to have a look at the weekend and have a real good poke round and report what's going to be happening, but from the looks of it, it's not scrap fodder yet.

Really looking forward to seeing more on this! If I ever own a Mini, I'd want it to be one of these (with 10" Mamba wheels) ;D

After a slight setback today (sorry guys ) I had some free time, so I decided to start poking round with the Elf and see what she's like. It's not as bad as I though, although there is still a fair amount of rot. I estimate the Elf went off the road in 1993 (Thomas Cook holiday book in the door pocket) so there's 19 years of curse word on her. Stuck a battery pack on to see what would happen. Turned over a few times before the pack ran out of juice. Will stick a good battery on and try again. Front seats and carpet are pretty knackered, so they need to be sorted. Rear and dashboard are pretty good. The dash could do with a good sanding and varnishing though. Now... onto the floor... Drivers footwell: Drivers footwell just infront of cross member: Drivers side just behind and on the cross member: Drivers side under rear seat/door pocket: Passanger side sill: So from the looks of it, it is saveable ;D thats excellent Dan !! (did you get my PM by the way?) I did indeed matey. Bit late now though

very interesting resto, look forward to updates i'm aware of the wolsley hornet, how does the riley differ? was it just badge engineering and a bit of "posh" trim ? also i wondered with the abundant aftermarket support for mini minor/austin mini, does that extend to wolsley/riley regards panels, or will you have to get creative ?

Nice Elf. Have a soft spot for the mini with a boot. Loved the interiors as well.
darrenh: The Elf was the same car as the Hornet, just with a slightly more plush interior. Ther elf has a full wooden dash and more chrome.

Cheers guys regarding the seats, let me know if you decide to move them on. Will do, but more than likely I'll be keeping the seats, just replacing the material. If its any good to you, i've got a good pair of the glove box panels of the dash which are gathering dust and doing nothing Cheers matey. I'll bear it in mind if I need anything. The whole dash is in pretty good condition, just needs sanding down to get rid of some pealing.

I was expecting to see a lot more floor through the floor when you said it was shot, that looks eminently saveable, good on you for doing it too.

Unfortunatly, not by me.
I sold it a few months ago via. eBay to a very pleasent chap who is restoring one. His ones bodywork was a lot worse than this, but everything that wasn't bodywork was in fantastic shape, so he was stripping his one and sticking it all into this one.
Sad I couldn't sort it myself, but time/money/space/family/usual excuses/etc... were all against me.
