Hi all, ive been registered on here for years but little amount of posting. Followed a google link to a photo on here and to my amazement i remembered my login details! ;D
This year i have been building a new ride ready for the summer shows. I'll tell the short story - I acquired my late grandfathers 30K miles Rover 100 Ascot 1.1 that me and my father have maintained since he took ownership in 2002. It has spent the last 3 years off pretty much off the road as his health deteriorated. Just prior to this we tidied up the scruffy wheelarches as both had rusted somewhat and one had taken a slight knock. Apologies for the paint match on the arches, which lets down the overall look of the car currently but will be corrected over the coming months.
I'm a member of various the various metro communities and have had metro VVC's in the past and never been without one as a 2nd car since passing my test many years ago. I had a surplus to requirements Rover 25 GTi which uses the Rover 1.8 VVC engine, which I'm sure is not uncommon knowledge on here as being a very capable engine in cars such as the MGZR160, Lotus Elise, MGF etc. So i set about transferring the engine along with the gearbox.
The spec of the car is now as follows:-
Antirollbars,
Front Shocks plus mounts,
Individualised and lowered
VVC MEMs 3, with 52mm TB ZR160 airbox etc,
GTi MPi front brakes,
Custom sleeper Janspeed Exhaust system,
PG1 gearbox conversion with LSD type B,
5.5J steels, in silver with 1.1C centre caps.
Here's a few shots of the car and will be at Castle Retro Show, Calidcot Castle this coming weekend
