Quite chuffed as I got my old CROWN out of the Father in Laws garage after a long time off the road due to just about fitting a whole new fuel system (Tank corroded and filled everything with sh%t) Not running great at the mo, but will fiddle at the weekend, also its on its way to having new springs for a 2"/3" drop, too much space in the wheel arches for my liking at the mo!! Stoped for fuel and took a few pics:

I bought the CROWN about 4 yrs ago, ran it for about 6 months then took it of the road for ages, then about 7 months ago I used it for a short while and found the rusty tank fuel problem, so off it went again, over the last few months I fitted a new tank, fuel pump, and a new carb I found on US ebay for £40quid!!!

Dropped the CROWN off at Alpha,s in Leeds today, they're a good bunch there and do well priced stainless systems. I don't fancy popping out the mile long front springs so I'm leaving it to them! I think I'm gonna search the Net tonight and see if i can find poly bushes, but feel doubtfull, any suggestions?

Another Pic of car on Ramp Could these be the longest coil springs know to cars??? Considering doing the dreaded cutting of springs on the fronts, as they are so bloody long and the tops are almost open anyway, I await the don't do its! ;D And theres a UK distributor for the Austrailian company called Pedders who do lower back springs, i think they do poly bushes too! Any comments on how low to go??? Also anyone know any cheap spring manufacturers?

Front end is now slammed and the CROWN looks a bit 70s custom with its in the air! Very pleased that Alphas got the front springs out, as I diddnt have the balls to have all 2 1/2 ft of coil spring bouncing around my drive. Coils are cut for the time being, untill i get my hands on the Pedders springs for front and back, think I'm gonna splash out on new shocks and make up some bushes too. A few pics of the dropped front end:-

When I get time I'll scan the 'analogue' pics of my old MS112 CROWN in its 'before' and 'after' state of spring choppage.
I ended up taking it off the road, as I'd worn both down pipes into an open C shape, it scraped on the road that much.

VIP, I really would like to see those pictures, its not often you see slammed CROWNs. When you say both pipes, did it have a V8 in it?? The crest on the door was on it from the factory, apparently there was a visit to England by some Japanesse Emperor dude in 78 and Toyota made a few specials to celebrate the occasion. The Latin text, "AIDIFICAMUS" according to my dad, translates as something like "together we Build" The drivers side crest was very flakey when I got the car and also covered in overspray so I pulled it off, but I'm looking to some how scan it and get another made, or alternatively hand paint one in!

Love the confluence of lines looking at the cars side view.
Drop suits it too.
Did not like the rims in the high shots, but closer to the metal suddenly suits the car much better.
Great looking ride.

VIP, I really would like to see those pictures, its not often you see slammed CROWNs. When you say both pipes, did it have a V8 in it?? It has the 2.8 straight six in it, but had dual downpipes from the manifold until the front box, I wore them out where they bent around into the horizontal. Used to have to calculate lane changes correctly on the motorway, otherwise the chassis rails would catch on cats eyes. Only pics I have are pre-slammage, and then slammage on stock baloon tyres. Then I switched the tyres for 195/45*14 and ran it like that for a year! Its now running around Bournemouth, painted turquiose and running air-ride.

Yeah, I'm not sure if I know of another car where the "coke bottle" lines slash over the top of each other, if you see what I mean, nice styling if I do say so myself! VIP, this sounds like a very interesting ride, please try get some pics up did you have to take the bumpstops off the car? mine is just sitting on the bump stops, but I think once I have the springs from Pedders it should sit ever so slightly higher, I do love a slammed car but at the same time I do intend to use it alot so I'm looking for a compromise! I found a new set of front shocks for it on Ebay and have found that with slight adjustment, Hillman avenger/Talbot Sunbeam rear shocks fit! good news cos I have a few sets of them!! Fot the moment I just wanna make the car drivable and enjoy running it for a bit, I'm keeping the body work pretty much as is for now as I like its genuine worn patina look, I need to take out the rear screen and treat a bit of the rust around there ( leeky boot) and also make a full set of bushes for it (home made from nylon bar) then I need some decent spacers making for it (its got those curse word universal ones at the moment) and I am currently tinting the windows! For the future, I am shortly to pick a new 4M (used) motor for it, which I'm begining to have thoughts of bolting a turbo to!!! Will be posting my progress, Thank for all the good comments! PS if anyone has any nice deep dish mags rims or similar i would be very interested!!

your stud pattern is the same as Chysler, Dodge, Plymouth, American Ford, Mercury and even a few Lincoln models. Think the Aussie Ford wheels also would fit. So you should be able to find something suitable. I'd rock Cragar S/S 7x14s on this car.
