Oh oooooo spaghettios!! I've gone and done it.......i couldn't resist any longer and after looking at several shitters i took the plunge and bought this bad boy. Left home yesterday around 1130am for a flight to collect it and landed back in dublin approx 630am: (Approx. 12am this morning heading for the ferry!) Obviously the adrenaline was still coursing through the veins by the looks of the shakey shots but get over it! Took these few this morning on my return to my bed! Its got an Opel Manta 2.0 injection engine and corresonding 5speed gearbox. Few other manta bits in rear suspension plus a few snazzy chrome items here and there. Its does need an overhaul when i get around to it as its not really been moved more than 200miles in approximately 15years!! It just covered around 400miles and only problem was i didnt check the water level when starting up this morning. Exhaust is too loud though ( i know, i know bring on the hate mail) so i have to remedy that with another silencer somewhere in there. don't get me wrong, it sounds great and all but i cant hear a thing this morning. Interior has had white dials fitted. Terrible. The calibration is all over the place and the dials are not marked correctly. According to the speedo it is currently doing ten miles and hour as there is no zero!! Plus, fuel gauge is bust and a few other niggles but all in its in grand shape (how freakin out was i blasting up the M6 late last night with own private fuel crisis!?!??) So when i wake up this afternoon i'll get a proper look at what i've done to myself this time. Needs a damn good clear out inside and after the servicing i intend to remedy some of the wibblepoo mods and possibly polish those lips and black out the centres??? Do i really want to start polishing more wheels?? And i think it could benefit from a smidging of a drop. Plus a tyre change up front cos it rubs on lock. Plus a spare wheel. Plus a, and a, as well as a ................................. ;D

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm still intoxicated with that new car excitement and i'm all hopped up on Red Bull and petrol fumes!! Just been to Halfords to get some cleaning materials and i've got some bits for a mini service on the way - poss next week before the order comes in. For now its plugs and a bit of oil and we'll see how i get on. I also got some red spray paint mixed up for the headlight buckets (which are currently flat black) and i got some black for the wheels (polishing the lips will show a bit of depth in them i think, as the silver isn't doing them justice)
I was speaking with the previous owner (who's a good guy thank god) and he has provided some answers and some suggestions for parts and bits and bobs. Now i just have to locate where that fuel smell is coming from - please make it just be a loose pipe to the filler neck!!

Excellent. These are ace to drive and a Manta lump should ensure a bit of poke. They're a little tame in standard trim. Top purchase!

SWEEETNESS!!
Love these wee things and they just look so damn good! Kind of a ba5tard mini-me love child from a one night stand between a 70's Vette and a Ferrari Daytona. UBER Cool!!
100% agreed - get those wheels black and the rims polished.
Looking forward to seeing more of this......

Thanks for all the key comments lads - its helps keep the smile on the face! ;D av8enger i'll get a look at that site as there's a few bits i need for the engine - general service stuff but it'd good to know where to get bits and advice too. Never had anything fuel injected before so its all pretty new to me! Few niggles on the car but then that is to be expected i suppose as its been lying dormant for a while until recently. Gotta bleed the brakes and check them all out - the previous owner has installed a new pair of calipers up front but it seems to pull to the left noticibly moreso on braking. Also got a reeeeeeealllllllly strong smell of fuel inside. Now i had this on the GT6 and it was caused by two things. Firstly the fact that there is a roll of cling film as a bulkhead on Triumphs and under hard acceleration (relatively speaking!) all that engine odour permeated the interior. The other thing was a very loosely connected filler pipe. I've taken out the spare wheel shelf (remember there's no boot on this baby) and i've already found that the two breather pipes for the tank are just left inside the car and pointing back into the cockpit!!!!! Gonna get some pipe tomoro and remedy that asap as i'm higher than a giraffe's ears from the fumes. Clutch needs adjusting too as i have very little travel before engaging. Then there's the supercharger i just bought...............only joking, not going down that route!!! Or a turbo either so don't sit up waiting for it! I'll defo have to change the front tyres too as they are really rubbing on tight turns but then again, they are 70 profiles so i've nearly as much tyre as rim! On a similar point, i offered up the compomotives that i got for the Magnum and they look nice and wide - i'll put a picture up tomoro. What i spent most of today doing was cleaning the interior. U should've seen what came off the seats and door panels. The seats themselves were bogging but after the full compliment of Auto Glym's finest they are ship shape now. Pics of that tomoro also Oh yeah, the engine is from a C reg Manta GTE - anybody able to tell me what year a 'C' reg is? ?
