Bought this as an impulse buy just before Xmas to cheer myself up! I present to you my 1974 W115 230.4 auto with 56k on the clock that I think is genuine (good bit of history). Needs the following work to get it on the road: Finish & improve fairly curse word drivers side floor repair (they've completely cut out the jack mount :s ) Both rear corners of the floor are rotten Passenger side a hole in it Bottom of most of the doors aren't great Bootlid needs some love. A couple of door seals ideally Brake lines need to be changed but came with it. Get the dash lights working Thank god it starts/runs/stops like it's meant to and everything works. Mojo was high with this one, so started chopping out all the rust. This is the pic of the worst of it: Had a couple of weeks of evenings doing this, and was about to go get a welder, but the gf blew up her Mini on the 23rd, and then I got sick shortly after, so not much has gone on. As it stands, there is about 3 hours of prep left. Then I need to make up the repair panels and weld em in. Then fit these: Do this: + Fit some boom boom:

Nice project. Doesn't look too bad for a W115! How's the corner of the bulkhead? They love to rot. It'll be tasty with some thump/slam. Good luck! M

Haven't had the heart to look at the bulkhead too much The rest of the shell looks really mint though. How's best to check the bulkhead? Fancy sticking a V8 in it for me?

lovely ride i was actually checking that on the bay before chrimbo! as chunky says though check the bulkhead, they tend to rot from inside out and the bulkhead often gets overlooked due to sound deadening!! ,sweet whip tho

cool ride, I'm sticking a pontiac V8 in my coupe when the weather warms up a bit so keep an eye out for a build thread, far as i can tell it should driop in ok, might have to run the manifolds forwards or out through the inner wings though, i've got some pics of a US one with a Ford 302 in it somewhere, most yank engines are narrower than the merc ones so will go in easier.

Ok so some test pics of the wheels. Unfortunately, this is just a mockup as my wheelnuts aren't long enough. The wheels are awesome tbh. Still torn about tyre choices - the 225 tyre is kind of shagged, so it means 1 225 now, and another in a little while! Here is the 225 vs the 195. The 195 is stretched and very low profile. I was thinking perhaps matching the profile but with 225 width might look awesome B) Heres a mockup with the suspension still a little too high and the 225 high profile tyres: Here it is with the 195s Just to verify, I'm thinking low profile 225 width tyres on the back, and the stretched 195s on the front. Not enough room in the garage, massive fail, but you get the idea! Opinions?

cool car . . but I would keep it on steel wheels . . or get really retro alloys . . those look "too new" IMHO

This looks really interesting! A stack light with rims, drop and sounds... heaven!
Those wheels are sex by the way. What's the spec on them? I think they'll suit the car real well. My vote would be for 195 tyres all round, but low-pro 225's on the rear should look cool too.

Yeah i like those rims as well, i didn't think i would but now they're on it i like em them.
Some words of advice, if your keeping a steel spare wheel, keep 4 of the short wheel bolts in the car, if you fit a steel with the alloy wheel bolts on the back, the bolts go into the handbrake drum and jam the wheel.

Love the look of the wheels! The rust looks like Mercedes standard-issue grot to me. Glad the bulkhead is intact, I had a heart-in-mouth moment when inspecting mine but I've escaped the dreaded rot from there too!

Loving the wheels Mark, but I recon they would work (and probably fit) best without a huge amount of drop, just enough to rid it of the gap between arch lip and tyre top. [blasphomy]Lower isn't always better[/blasphomy]
