I've only had the car a month now so i thought I'd better get round to doing my thread, I've been putting it off as I'm pretty rubbish at things like this! ;D. I brought the car after a 180 mile drive north to the town of Brigg in Lincoinshire after seeing for sale online. The owner was a old chap that had bought to as a temporally car whist his 2002 was being restored, He had a cool yard of old BMW's as well. I was a bit worried about driving it back because although it had only just been MOTed, It had only done 9000 miles since 1989, and 5000 of them in the last 15 years!. (it's only done 69000 since new! ) Luckily it made it the 180 miles home, Just, It started coughing and cutting out just by my house . I've taken it do my dad's mechanic mate who's checked it over, It was a gummed up carb which was as i expected, which is sorted now by cleaning the carb and fitting a in-line fuel filter to stop the curse word coming through. Whist it was at his it's also had to have a patch on the rear subframe, Front pipe wielded, timing done as it had a spot of pre-ignition, the carb tuned, Points and a clutch slave cylinder seal kit repair which took a while as the parts took ages to turn up... So here are the photos of it. I've painted the original wheels which look much better now then the rusty ones but I'm after a set of alloys anyway, Minilites would be nice i think. Been fitting a radio as well this week as it's never had one fitted before, (thanks to Downton for the speakers ) Half striped out mid stereo fitting interior shoot minus centre console which was out of the car at the time. So all is coming on, Really needs the suspension sorted now as it handles like curse word, the 1602's never had anti roll bars fitted which don't help plus i plan on lowering it a little but i lack skillz I need a set of chrome spot lights for it as well but i have to fix the scabby, badly half blacked stone chipped front panel first and paint it. And i will have to fix the sun bleached seats and scabby bits as well but there no rush for that, I want to enjoy using it first. ;D As for ideas I'd like it to sit like this. and look like this.

Nice but imo the mini-lites would look wibblepoo. A set of BBS's or Alpines would look better but it's not my car so as long as you like it

Any ideas are welcome mate!, I'm not sure what I fancy really, Alpines are high on the list but sadly funds are low so it won't be just yet anyway I think. Thanks for the comments guys!

Good to see you made a thread for it. That white one is how mine will be sitting in a few weeks, when my springs etc... come in. I don't know about 15" minilights i think they are a bit to big and the Alpines are massive on an 02. 14" is about right i reckon. Here is some more inspiration for you! Cheers

Thanks 427, Love them BBS wheels on that top one. Picked the car up today from my dads where it's been the last month whist his mate done the jobs, Can't complain at the bill, all the work done including the wielding and a set of keys cut came to the grand total of £91! Happy days! ;D. It's driving better then ever now, So much smoother and quieter plus the bonus of not getting out smelling of petrol fumes!. Mrs. Trigger took an action shot of me driving home in it tonight! Got my stereo fitted now, First time the car has had music into for 34 years! The speakers I got from downton works well if a little mono but that's cool!. Dad made a MDF radio surround for the stereo to fit in as I'm curse word at wood work and he's a chippy, Looks good to me! Next job is to paint the front panel but that won't be for a few weeks yet until I've save some money up.

Hi mate - good to see you are making some progress! Due to a bit of illness and a lot of catching up with work I haven't managed to do much on mine for a month or so - hopefully that will all change this weekend though!
If you're interested, I have a set of lowering springs sitting around doing not much. PM me if you wanna chat about them or any other bits you might need?

hey mate, great little car you have there, as far as wheels, you could go with the performance superlights with more spokes, like ours.

^^^ OOFFFF that's nice! Jumped in it last night to move it and the wipers won't work, they been working fine before so I wiggled the fuses and bit as they are years old and the wiper moved a bit but then burned the fuse out. So i popped to Halfrauds tonight and got a few more, Pop the new fuse in, Turned on the wipers and it popped again, Bloody great, Must be shorting out somewhere but god knows where, Hope the wiper motor hasn't cooked... Oh I've sent you a PM Jon

Well the car's still going well, nearly done 1000 miles without any major issues so far!. I Had to re-wield the downpipe again the other day as the original wield didn't hold which was at the end where it joins the middle section but It's been sleeved over with a Peugeot pipe that fitted and had the same end as the BMW pipe. I've also bought some second hand anti roll bars for it and links as the 1602 was never fitted with them although the 2002 was, I've wire bruised them and hamerite black them and will be fitting them soon, Hopefully they should just bolt on, so I've been told anyway!. I've also bought some lowering springs for it as well, Unsure what the drop will be as they are second hand but it be fun when i find out!. And lastly I've also bought a set of 6x13 Auto Stihl Grifo Alloys for my 02 that needs painting and been thinking about what colour to do them. Not sure whether to go silver, grey or white, At the moment they are lacquered over chrome on the rims and spokes with grey in the centre and between the spokes. Also can't decide If to leave the centre caps of and see if the chrome hub sets of the original steels fit or just fit the plastic centre caps that come with them and paint them... Just hope they will fit o.k, They come of a 02 and are the same size as the ones on a Turbo so should be o.k.

These wheels might be for sale soon as i don't think they fit, Not had time to try them on the car yet but although they came of a 2002 the inner wall on 2 of the tires has been rubbing on something which makes me think they are to wide for the car.

Thought I'd make a quick update as I've not done one for a while!. The car is going great at the moment, Had to get new clutch plate fitted last month due to the last one slipping like hell and a new clutch master cylinder as the old one was leaking but luckily Jaymic had these on the shelf so they are a lot better now. The trouble is driving a car which has only done 9000 miles in the last 20 year is all the old porous seals are starting to leak now including the radiator, exhaust, fuel pump and the clutch master cylinder but I'm slowly sorting them all out. Got my new anti roll bars fitted now which has transformed the handling, much more stable on the corners now then it was before, Still have the lowering springs to fit, just waiting until someone can help me with them (I.e my dad) as I haven't a clue how to fit them!. The bodywork seems to be looking rustier every day!, I have painted the front valance as it was quite scabby and covered in badly bodged stonechip so I've sanded it down to bare metal with a electric DA sander, repaired a coupe of small holes, Etch primed it, primed and them re-stonechipped it to how it should be and repainted it with some hand mixed aerosol paint I bought from Halfords, The colour match was spot on although the Halfords spray cans are a bit crappy to use, as it spat out a bit (Forgot to take a finished photo! : I've also had a quote for a pair of rear arches, Bottom of both doors plated and to supply and fit new front wings plus to spray down both sides for £1500!, Think I might leave it for now!, And if anyone has a good Lux interior laying around in their shed give me a call please!. I was suffering a big lack of mojo a short while ago with all the bits going wrong and the rusty parts but having used it for a good drive today and all the good comments I get I'm starting to love it again!. He's are a few photos I took last month
