Hello all, new to this site and the whole retro ride scene but have been owning and modding watercooled vw's for about 15 years. so me and my brother fancied a change and a laugh so we bought this. Our first v8 Image split rims Rear wheels are 12 inches wide its been standing for 6 years but it rolled easily onto the truck ,and we managed to get it running on carb cleaner as the fuel pump doesn't work. there very little rot, just the outer sills really, which isn't bad for an old manta. But the real reason we bought it was because we were able to get hold of one of these its only a 3.5 so we haven't got a clue what bhp it will produce as were completely new to the v8 engine, but it should be fun. (which I think cars are supposed to be) all comments are welcome and any advice or info on where to get bits for it would be great thanks for looking Richard

Nice. gotta be worth whatever you paid for the wheels! But they're not usually five studs are they what they off? Off to of me head I'd expect <150bhp and good torques, the sound will be addictive if nowt else. should be ace when sorted.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Thanks for all the great comments.I'll try and answer a few questions
No1 ; I'm not sure at the mo why the tubs are mismatched but i will have a good look when i get up the workshop and get back to you.
No2 ; I'm unsure on the stud pattern of the wheels as I'm waiting to get the paperwork that tells me what everything is on the car. But we didnt even know they were on there as we bought the car through a friend, he thought they were weller slots,so we were well happy when it got dropped off.
i will get some photo's at the weekend of the underneath so you can see the shortend rear axle.

Looks like the old Wade RO34 from an old Commer truck, and a nicely modded manifold to go beneath it. Got one myself. I've read that they don't like going over 5000rpm because of the rotors being completely aluminium, unless they have steel shafts in the rotors then I believe they can go a little above 5000rpm. I like the 12" rears

Mismatched tubs are probably to give room for the fuel filler pipe

yeah the tubs are mis matched due to the filler neck ,but this is now obselete as the fuel cell is in the boot.
were having trouble trying to find some info on how we can get the charger belt and fan belt to run seperatley, weve bolted the charger on and the belts will run into each other.ive heard about p6 water pumps but I'm not sure
if anyone can help with advice ,pictures or websites i can look at that would be great

From the first picture you've posted, it looks like you've got the saloon spec timing cover, so you'll either have the p5/p6 or sd1 type timing cover. This website: The Fat Capri has some pictures of a wade ro34 installed on a rv8. There is very little information on fitting them
