I got this about 2 weeks ago now... This first post may not read right cos i've copy and pasted it from another forum but will keep this thread up to date as it happens..
Just got this little bargain....
Picking up some GTI cab interior on the weekend hopefully.. Just waiting for pics to come through..
Repair panels on order..
Should have it pulled apart and primed on the weekend ready for paint next weekend fingers crossed..
Thinking slammed on a set of turbo's or cup's it all depends..
It's just going back to red..
Me and Frizz dragged it out the unit a min ago chucked a battery on it turned it over for about 5-10 seconds and bang up she started..
Kicked the hell out of the rear arches so theres not much let of them now..
Grabbed a spare couple mins after work so popped out the workshop started pulling it apart..
All stripped just got to lift the roof off the quarters.
The rear arches turned up today so they'll be on tomorrow fingers crossed.
Gonna get the paint and hardener tomorrow as well, already got the primer ready..
Just the rear outer arches and inner arches, little scab on the front panel behind the grille and the drivers wing, and a repair both sides of the rear panel then shes ready..

Couldn't do anymore cos the welding mask is playing up and i've had enough of arc eye..
Not gonna get anything done on it tomorrow cos we're off to Portsmouth to get the interior..
Picked up the interior on saturday, looked really bad in the pics he sent me but tbh it's not as grubby as he made it out to be..
Got some Vanish on there to try it and it'll come up a treat
Had to reshape the n/s inner arch that I made and thats now welded in, just the rear 6"s or so to build and weld in then stick the rear arch on..
Got abit more done on the N/S rear tonight..
The 5" of rear chassis right at the back where it joins the rear panel/and rear inner rear quarter was not there at all.
So I had to cut a section out of the inner rear quarter and the outer rear panel to gain acess to it.
The chassis is now welded and have replaced the section of inner rear quarter that I had to remove..
Also got all the inner arch finished..
Just found that the N/S rear chassis is rotton where the rear beam mounts to, so gonna have to remove the rear beam to replace the section of chassis.. The O/S is fine by the looks of it..
Got some more done tonight.. Wasn't totally happy with the inner arch so I had to alter it about abit.. Thats all done and ground back now. clamped the outer arch into place and cut the rear quarter out to fit and cleaned up the quarter ready for welding..
Just need to clean up arch and drill the lip ready for some spot welds..
Heres some pics of the N/S..
