:)thought i'd better get one up ,basically did a deal with the 300c and this ended up in the garage on new years eve , as I am working away I have had very little time to play so heres a start . my aim eventually may be to build a rally replica ,however the car is mot'd til november and I don't have rally money!!!! so I am going to carry out a few mods to see me through to then, in the garage I have a few retro road/rally 70,s bits and bobs which will be going on for now. [more to follow] the bonnet catch was broken so some bonnet pins went on , anyway had an evening spare so far , when you lifted the bonnet the slam panel and behind the headlamps was all a bit scruffy and one of the headlamp bowls was rusty so heres where it all starts ........ basically I want a 70,s style street racer style so I trial mounted cibies, arches etc ,i have also now fitted a chin spoiler and backlit jdm number plate surrounds, may I introde you to project WHITE DOG TURD

It doesn't look in bad condition actually. Although the drivers footwell looks a bit manky.....has that been caused by leakage or just lack of care by previous owners?

Dear mr.traveller I am wishing too see this backlit jdm thingy, the paint doesn't look as bad as I was expecting from your description at the last gathering of the lime green fryup. looks very solid for a 79 I seem to remember seeing a lot of rotten ones back in the day. Now stop making no time excuses and remember sleep is for wimps.

Nice Gen 2. Looks in OK condition, which is a novelty! These do look good when arched. If you're looking for some inspiration, plenty of arched Gen 2's here: TA/RA40 GalleryI've always liked this Bathurst style one: If you need any tech' help, give me shout I've probably run into the problem before! For parts I can also point you to a good source. I'll keep an eye on this build. Good luck.

wow thanks guys, celica v8 your car is one of my faves and part of the reason for getting this one, i wont be going anywhere near the work that you have done!! stonyray, i had been trying to sell the 300c for ages ,no takers ,ebay was ending at 5 to 600 pounds, this has 12mths mot ,the ced had 5mths left, i had a great time with the 300c the highlight being at the nec however i am famous for not keeping cars forever so time suited me, i have to say a new project in the garage has got me mojo going , i have had such a diverse range of hobby cars over the years this being the next of them, thaks for all the comments ¬

:)major mojo boosting sunshine this last weekend so i pushed the celica out of the garage washed the dust off and took some pics[even insured it!],havent updated for a while, been doing a bit over the last few weeks as and when i got a chance, as follows flatted the bad paintjob with 1500 pad then buffed and polished [not as quick as it sounds!!] just about presentable now [for this year anyway ],treated rust where necessary ,touched up etc, cleaned out arches and underside ,undersealed where i could,preepped/repaired lower doors etc and stonechipped] painted inside boot and surrounding, fitted new boot seal ,removed/refitte rear side window surrounds [leaking], removed rear seat ,treated /painted surrounding area [now carpetted] removed front seats ,removed exhaust, fitted rear cage [will fit front eventually] removed wheels 'cleaned brakes, running gear etc fitted lotus rims as bought from steamo, made quick release brackets, fitted front cibies, rear lucas reverse lamp and fog lamps, madmods arches and some retro stickers!!blah blah blah there is absolutely loads to do but the mot doesn't run out til november so ive gotta fit the retro seats ,make up an exhaust ,fit me pancakes, and a few bits and bobs over the next couple of weeks then TAX IT AND USE IT!!![also see another new project in the background ]
