hello i've had this for a little over a year now. i'm a member of turbosport so some of you may have already seen this all before but it tends to get lost among all the yb escorts.
it took me and my mate a few hours a couple of hours to get the old engine and box out and the new toyota items form a AE86 all lined up.
I made had some plates cut out by the machine shop at uni from 3mm plate to bolt to the new engine.
then with the help of my dads mate got the engine chassis mounted.
I also had him weld in a enlarged section for the tunnel that i'd made while doing a tig welding course.
I used the old engine mount rubbers to space the gearbox down from the body but will probably replace these with some box section welded to the gearbox mount as the gearbox already has a bush attachment and hardly needs three.
with uni getting in the way since the summer I haven't done much more but have collected a exhaust manifold from ashley (that i'm going to have to mod to fit) and a custom prop from 105speed to mount the toyota box to the original cortina axle.
over christmas I did manage to get the fuel lines sorted
and also a polo radiator that again i'm getting the mounts made up for at uni.
come the summer when i've finished my degree i've just got to weld in the rad mounts, sort out a clutch linkage, wire it in and make the exhaust and i'll be away.
I have also got some princess 4pots that i've been told will bolt straight onto standard cortina struts but if not then a simple bracket will have them on before I can enjoy it in the sun and plot the next batch of modifications which will probably involve tyding up the body work, rack conversion, cage and 4link set up... all of that is a way off yet though and i'm just looking forward to having it on the road tbh.
couldn't have got it this far without the help of mr papworth (seventynine) who got me into old fords in the first place and has been more than help full on numerous occasions.
thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy.
