Had this up in general but here's its proper build thread. 1979 Datsun Laurel 240L (or C230) 2.4ltr Straight 6, carbed, manual 'box. 41K miles Picked this up yesterday. Looks beat to hell but it remarkably solid in all the right places. Full MOT, runs like a swiss watch and a nice smooth ride. I'm not gonna do much to this except wheels+slam and rock it about looking tough. Its sat for 7(?) years - and you can tell - but its purely aesthetic for the most part I give you, the Battle Datto/'Battle Royale': One for the photoshoppers Nice plush interior: You just can't fake patina of this caliber The rims it's on are rare 80's Skyline alloys and, unfortunately, are only on temporarily until I sort something else out. Kindly lent to me by Datman so I could get home legally. This is gonna get driven hard (once it's off Wills tyres ) and some kinda stenciling on the doors/bonnet/boot/roof/whatever. I think it looks good as a beater so no washing, polishing or babying for this. JPHC!

Blimey, it scrubbed up well from when Datman found it! You'd expect a whole world of horrors under moss on an old Japanese motor but she looks pretty sound! Looking forward to seeing the wheels for Battle Datsun

those seats look very comfortable, if only i could fit one in my micra. it would probably be pyhsically impossible to squeeze it in though. I wasn't sure about rims so I didn't change them.. That's the kinda stance I thought looked good at least.

As much as Id love to slam it all the way, this has to be more practical as a daily... so its only getting a couple of inches out

Got stuck into a little bit of low-cost modification this morning SPRING CUTTING! w00t! w00t! Come here you busload of nuns on your way back from the kitten fair - imagonna mow you down! It was VERY nose-in-the-air from stock, and now its slightly nose-down. Took it out for a blast and it sticks to the corners much nicer (it was quite jittery before). That was 3 full coils out the springs (done one at a time) so I think ill do 2 out the back next weekend... there's a garden full of sunshine and some real ales to be enjoyed right now.

Nice work JS! Loads better, a good sensible amount I think for daily duties. Once you've done the rear end and popped some choice wheels on the whole gangs there! Nothing to do but enjoy it

Street, any update to the Family Dragster yet? Gearing up to it, I'm just battling with some storage trauma where Family Dragster and the P6 are kept right now so once I'm out of the woods and things are stable again I'm going to play catch up

I'll second that, looks like those rear archs could take some big rubber.
